New Vessels for Nightjar Diner Co. by local artist, Jay Kimball.
These pots were made through a firing process where clay, fire, smoke, ash, and earth all leave their mark. The surfaces become records of heat, timing, contact, and accident.
That feels right for the Diner.
Nightjar Diner has always cared about the whole room, not just the plate. The food matters. The object matters. The hands and that make them matter. These pieces will live here as working objects, holding flowers, branches, and whatever else the season gives us.
Thank you Jay for making work that is both of here and belongs here.
Follow Jay’s work Jay Kimball, keep an eye on the events and exhibitions at our local art gallery Art Gallery of Swift Current, and a huge thank you to Saskatchewan Provincial Parks for making space for this community firing on Canada Day at Cottonwood Beach at The Landing.
