In 2019, Simply For Life took one of its biggest steps yet — we bought a building! 🏢💚

The former Kia dealership on Rothesay Avenue would become the new home of Simply For Life — and a pretty big leap from where it all began in a basement nearly two decades earlier.

We had outgrown our previous space and had a much bigger vision for what came next: a proper head office for our growing network, a significantly larger health and wellness market, expanded coaching space, and a home that truly represented the Simply For Life brand.

We were excited. We had plans. We started renovations.

And then… 2020 happened. 😅

Renovating and transforming a building during COVID brought challenges we definitely hadn't planned for — delays, added costs, supply issues and plenty of stressful moments for our team and contractors.

But we kept going.

What emerged was a completely redesigned building and a beautiful new home for SFL — one that allowed us to bring our coaching, market, team and head office together under one roof and showcase what Simply For Life had grown to become.

Looking back, this building represents so much more than bricks and mortar.

It represents growth, resilience and believing enough in where you're going to make the investment in getting there.

From seeing clients in our basement in 2001… to opening the doors of our own SFL headquarters and flagship market.

Definitely one of those “look how far we've come” moments. 💚

🍂🥧 Ultimate Healthy Pumpkin Pie 🥧🍂

Filling:
• 1 can organic pumpkin purée
• ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
• ½ cup milk
• 1 tbsp organic cornstarch
• 1½ tsp cinnamon
• ¼ tsp each nutmeg, ginger & Himalayan pink salt
• ⅛ tsp black pepper
• ¼ cup organic maple syrup
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• ½ tsp Vanilla Crème Stevia
• 3 large egg whites, lightly beaten
• 1 pie crust (homemade or a healthier option)

Whipped Cream:
• 3 tbsp whipping cream
• 6 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
• ½ tsp Vanilla Crème Stevia

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line crust with foil, fill with pie weights (or beans/rice), and bake 15 min. Remove foil and weights; lower oven to 350°F.
Mix pumpkin and yogurt. Whisk milk and cornstarch separately, then stir in. Add spices, salt, pepper, maple syrup, vanilla and stevia, then gradually fold in egg whites.
Pour into crust and bake 35–40 min, until the center barely jiggles. Cool, then chill 8 hours.
Whipped cream: Using a chilled bowl and beaters, whip cream to soft peaks. Add yogurt and stevia; beat to stiff peaks. Top each slice and serve.

Apparently, over the past 25 years, everyone in the family had to do their part for Simply For Life… including the pets. 😂🐾

Straight from the archives are two very special members of the extended SFL family who are sadly no longer with us — Archie and Walter. 💚

Archie, our very BIG Neapolitan Mastiff, was always happy to lend his handsome face to the cause — including proudly sporting his Simply For Life hat.

And then there was Walter the Bulldog, who really took his promotional duties to the next level — dressed as Santa and helping showcase our Relax Formula. 🎅

No modelling fees. No contracts. Just treats, a little patience and some questionable wardrobe choices in the name of supporting the family business.

Both Archie and Walter have since passed, which makes finding these old photos even more special. They bring back a lot of great memories — and still make us smile.

Over 25 years, it isn't only the big milestones we remember. Sometimes it's the silly, everyday moments — and the four-legged family members who were right there for the ride. 💫🐾

Gone, but definitely not forgotten. Thanks for doing your part, boys.

As we look back on 25 years of Simply For Life, we celebrate so many people who have helped shape our story. Today, we remember two very special members of the SFL family who are no longer with us — Kim Isaacs and Christine McDonald. 💚

Kim Isaacs was part of our story almost from the beginning. A former coworker of Bruce and Claudine at Air Canada, Kim was initially a little skeptical of this new Simply For Life program. But eventually she decided to give it a try — and never looked back.

Kim lost 100 pounds and completely transformed her life. That experience ultimately led her to make some big changes, move to Nova Scotia and open the Simply For Life location in Yarmouth.

Having experienced the program herself, Kim brought something incredibly special to coaching. She understood the journey personally and used that experience to help so many others. She built a successful business, became an important part of her community and was simply one of the kindest people you could ever meet.

When illness eventually forced Kim to step away from the business she loved, her absence was deeply felt throughout the SFL family. It still is. We talk about Kim and remember her often.

We also remember Christine McDonald, our former Amherst franchisee.

Christine's SFL story began as an employee before she eventually took the leap into ownership herself. Like Kim, she became much more than a business owner — she became a trusted and loved part of her community.

Even after her Simply For Life chapter ended, Christine continued doing what came naturally to her: serving people through health, wellness and food with Prepared Meals to Go and Red's Apron.

Christine remained a great friend of the Simply For Life family through the years. Her passing left another space that simply can't be filled.

Over 25 years, you realize that a business story isn't really about locations, logos or milestones.

It's about people.

Kim and Christine helped people. They changed lives. They built relationships. They made an impact in their communities and left their mark on Simply For Life.

Today, we remember them with a lot of love and gratitude.

Forever part of the SFL family. Forever part of our story. 💚

Talk about a social media throwback! 👀📱

Straight from the archives… the very first Simply For Life Facebook post, shared back on May 5th, 2010.

At the time, Facebook was a whole new way for businesses to connect with people — and we definitely had no idea just how important social media would eventually become to the way we communicate, educate, celebrate our clients and tell the SFL story.

There were no Reels. No Stories. No influencers. No content calendars. And definitely no worrying about algorithms. 😂

You simply wrote a post, hit publish… and hoped someone saw it!

Fast-forward to today and social media has completely transformed how we connect with our communities across the SFL network. It has become a place to share health and wellness information, introduce our coaches, celebrate successes, showcase products, promote events and stay connected with clients every single day.

And just like our logos, meal plans, locations and technology have evolved over 25 years… our social media certainly has too!

We all had to start somewhere. 😉

One little Facebook post — and thousands of posts, likes, comments, shares and memories later, here we are. 💚

From a home-based business… to being recognized by the Saint John business community just a few years later. 💚

In 2003, only two years after Simply For Life began, SFL was named a finalist for the Saint John Board of Trade Emerging Enterprise Award.

At the time, we were still very new to business. We hadn’t studied entrepreneurship or business management — we were simply building something we believed in, learning as we went and figuring out each new stage as it came.

Then, in 2004, came a moment we’ll never forget: Simply For Life received the Entrepreneurial Achievement Award. 🏆

That recognition came at an important time. SFL was growing quickly, and 2004 marked the beginning of our journey into franchising — taking what had started in a home in Saint John and beginning to build a much bigger network.

Looking back, there was still SO much we didn’t know. There would be plenty of lessons ahead, lots of trial and error, a few mistakes (okay… probably more than a few! 😂) and a whole lot of learning.

But that award gave us an incredible boost of confidence at a time when we were taking some pretty big chances.

Over the 25 years that followed, SFL would go on to receive many other recognitions, including becoming a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program years later.

But there’s something pretty special about those early milestones.

We were learning. We were growing. And we were starting to realize that this little idea might actually become something pretty big. 💚

Fun fact: Simply For Life wasn’t always Simply For Life. 👀

When we first started in 2001, we were actually called Simply Fit.

As the business grew and we began preparing to franchise, there was suddenly a whole lot more to think about — including trademarks, branding and creating an identity that could grow with us. Simply Fit wasn’t a name we were able to trademark, so it was time for our first big brand evolution.

We knew one thing for sure: we wanted to keep “Simply.”

With the help of a PR and marketing firm, Simply For Life was born — and it stuck. 💚

The name represented so much of what we wanted the company to stand for: not a quick fix, but health, wellness and longevity for life.

And the logo? It has had quite the journey too!

Our early branding featured the SFL acronym, surrounded by the recognizable green rings. Over the years, we simplified, refreshed colours and gradually modernized the look.

Then in 2018, we made one of our biggest changes — saying goodbye to the SFL acronym in the logo and introducing a completely new Simply For Life identity. Since then, we’ve continued to evolve, eventually bringing in the leaf and the fresh, natural look you recognize today. 🌿

Swipe through and you’ll see quite the transformation!

25 years. Different names, logos, colours and looks — but the purpose behind the brand has always remained.

We’ve grown up. We’ve changed. And we’ve never been afraid to evolve.

After all, if there’s one thing 25 years in business teaches you, it’s that staying relevant means being willing to change. 💚

Some people become part of the story. Others help shape it. 💚

Mike Griffin joined Simply For Life way back in 2004, becoming one of our very first coaches — and more than 20 years later, his impact on SFL and the thousands of clients he has coached is pretty incredible.

Over the years, Mike has helped countless people change their health, reach their goals and navigate all the ups and downs that come with the journey. Many of those relationships have lasted for years, with Mike still keeping in touch with clients he coached long ago.

His impact has gone well beyond his own clients. As a Master Trainer, Mike has helped train, mentor and support coaches throughout the SFL network, sharing the experience and knowledge he has gained over two decades.

Last year, Mike decided it might finally be time to retire from coaching and try something completely different.

Well… that lasted about a year. 😂

Turns out, when you’ve found what you’re meant to do, it has a way of calling you back.

Mike returned to Simply For Life and to what he does best — coaching, connecting and helping people become healthier versions of themselves.

From those early SFL days in 2004 to today, Mike has been an important part of our growth, our culture and our story.

More than 20 years. Thousands of clients. Generations of SFL coaches. And still going.

We’re pretty happy you came back, Mike. 😉

Here’s another one from the SFL archives! 📰

This newspaper clipping takes us back to an early community partnership between Simply For Life and the Grannan’s group of restaurants in Saint John.

Pictured are SFL founder Bruce Sweeney and Chris Grannan at Church Street Steakhouse, launching a partnership designed to make eating out a whole lot easier for Simply For Life clients.

The idea was simple: work together to identify menu options that aligned with the SFL approach, then place the Simply For Life logo right on the restaurant menus so clients could easily recognize those choices when dining out.

And yes… this was also during the era of “GI Bruce” — when the glycemic index was a big part of the conversation! 😄

Long before apps and digital menus, this was one of the ways SFL was working to take healthy living beyond the walls of our locations and into everyday life.

It was also the beginning of something that has always been important to Simply For Life: building great local partnerships and finding practical ways to support our clients in their own communities. 💚

25 years later, we love looking back at these moments — and maybe even some of the nicknames. 😉

Before online booking, apps, digital food journals and point-of-sale systems… there was the black book. 😂

This was our original Simply For Life scheduler — handwritten appointment slots, names written in and crossed out, and every client appointment managed manually.

And then there was our original food journal — another throwback to a time when absolutely everything was done on paper.

Meal plans? Created manually.
Appointments? Written by hand.
Food journals? Pen and paper.
Point of sale? Not yet.
Fancy systems? Definitely not.

We were figuring it out as we went.

What we did have was a passion for helping people, a belief in what we were building and the determination to make it work — even if that meant doing everything the long way.

Today, so much of the Simply For Life experience has moved to digital, making things faster, easier and more connected for our coaches and clients.

But these little pieces from the archives are a pretty great reminder of where we started.

No technology. No fancy systems. Just an idea, a black book and a whole lot of passion. 💚

Now THIS is a throwback!

Straight from the archives — one of our very first Simply For Life TV commercials!

At the time, seeing Simply For Life on television was a pretty big moment for a young, growing company, and we were incredibly proud of this commercial.

But what made it even more special was the story behind it.

The commercial featured Jen, one of our clients who had experienced an incredible transformation through Simply For Life and was willing to step in front of the camera and share her story.

Long before social media testimonials, Reels and videos became part of everyday marketing, sharing real client stories was already at the heart of how we wanted people to understand Simply For Life — real people, real experiences and real change.

Looking back at the production might bring a little smile 😉, but the message behind it is something we're still very proud of today.

Thank you, Jen, for trusting us with your journey and for being willing to share it with everyone all those years ago. 💚

Hit play and enjoy this little piece of SFL history!
