"Thurston Tynkkynen is a singer/songwriter from Stratford Ontario. In the past two years, he has released 3 solo albums of varying genres and styles. His first album, “Goodbye Love and Other Songs”, is a collection of pleasant sounding acoustic tracks, and was a great first showcase of his softer side compared to his band, The Milkers. His second album, “For Me” leans more into his heavier roots, while expanding on those original ideas, and also incorporating different genres and new ideas. His third and most recent album “For You”, goes back to (mainly) the acoustic, and has some of his most personal, and well rounded material, but still contains certain experimental elements established in other recordings adding another layer of emotion, and excitement.
Some of his influences include, Beck, Pavement, Neil Young, Eric’s Trip, Sonic Youth, Elliott Smith, Modest Mouse, Sloan, Big Thief, and of course The Beatles. Thurston is always coming up with new ideas and working on different projects, but currently his main focus is finding his live sound, and working out how to translate his songs in front of a crowd."
