Legros & Motti would like to announce that we are closing on January 31st to facilitate a reorganization of restaurants in the Harbour Walk district and, ultimately, a move to another venue.
First of all, we’d like to take this chance to say thanks so much to the Legros & Motti family, our friends, our partners, and all the amazing visitors who made a night at Legros & Motti a special event. The vision of our founders was bold – a spectacular landmark destination on the beautiful St. John’s harbour front, and the largest restaurant of its size in Atlantic Canada. A world-class Newfoundland-born concept that could compete toe-to-toe with any national brand. We had many great successes and were fêted across the country, including being honoured with interior design awards from groups in Ontario and New York State. Most recently, our sold-out New Year’s Eve event was the talk of the town. Ultimately, however, we were unable to sustain the volume of clientele necessary to support an operation of our current size.
As of the end of the month, we will close for business to allow the space to undergo retrofitting for another concept. While the exact plans have yet to be finalized, a national brand will move into our current space, and negotiations are currently ongoing to move Legros & Motti to a cozier 160 seat venue in the general area. This new site will allow us to focus more on a distinct and creative dining experience.
We know there are many gift card holders out there – our cards were one of the most popular in Atlantic Canada – and you can still redeem them at our restaurant until the end of the month. After that time, they can be redeemed at The Keg St. John’s, or the purchase price will be refunded for anyone preferring that option. Otherwise, you can hold on to them until we reopen at a new venue.
