WHY ARE SECHUAN DISHES SO SPICY

What separates Sichuan dishes from other Chinese food? Most of the ingredients made for Sichuan dishes are natural ingredients grown from the grounds, giving it a natural spicy flavour of the earth.

Sichuan is isolated, circled by beautiful mountains, a scenic province that is harder to traverse to then the rest of China (much like Newfoundland). It is in that our family feel very much at home here in Newfoundland as we relate to this amazing island in that sense.
Unlike most other Chinese dishes, the majority of what goes into Sichuan dishes are naturally sourced from the lands and farms of the province. Thusly, a lot of it is also vegetarian friendly.

While we are incredibly proud of every dish we serve here at China House, we implore our patrons to try every dishes we have to offer, especially our Sichuan dishes :)

Sichuan cuisine often gets reduced to its fire-breathing qualities. But the food has so much more to offer than heat.
