Yesterday we had two pretty incredible visitors stop by the Cable House. 🤎🏃‍♂️

Meet Austin Winters, who is currently running 500+ km from Port Hardy to Victoria as part of Island Run 4 A Cure, raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society. ❤️

Austin started his journey on August 17 and plans to reach Victoria on August 23 — covering around **70 km a day** along the way. His amazing support crew is travelling with him too, meeting him about every 20 km with food, supplies and whatever he needs to keep going.

After meeting them and hearing about what they're doing, we wanted the Cable House to get behind them too.

So TODAY, 15% of all Cable House café sales will be donated to Austin's Island Run 4 A Cure fundraiser in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. ☕️❤️

Come by for a coffee, sandwich or something homemade, we have a full display of baking today, including our new gluten-free chocolate date brownies! 🍫

You can also donate directly at the Cable House, and 100% of the money placed in our donation jar will go toward the fundraiser.

A little look around the Cable House this week 🌻☕️

Fresh locally grown flowers on the tables, some new treats in the display, and our little shop is filling up too! 💐

💐 These beautiful flowers were locally grown by Lori Jenks Malcolmson

This week we have Dutch roze koeken — soft little cakes topped with a raspberry pink glaze — along with our blueberry cheesecake crumble bars and lots of other homemade baking. 🩷🫐

You can also browse our Cable House shirts, hoodies, tote bags and magnets, plus locally roasted coffee from Lost Hiker Coffee Roasters , and beautiful local paintings and Spirit of the Salmon River books by Rachel Boult.
