City By-Law 2008-131 states "no person over the age of 10 years shall ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk."

For the safety of pedestrians, Sault Police and the Downtown Association Sault Ste. Marie would like to remind community members not to ride bicycles, e-bikes, or electric scooters on sidewalks.

With several downtown storefronts opening directly onto sidewalks, staying off the sidewalk while riding helps prevent close calls and protects those who may be stepping out of businesses or turning blind corners.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping our shared spaces safe and accessible for all.
