🦃💕 A LITTLE THANKSGIVING UPDATE 💕🦃

First, I want to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who reached out — whether it was because your own family could use a little help this Thanksgiving, or because you wanted to quietly nominate someone you know. 💕

We’ve connected with our first family, a mama and her beautiful daughter. Thankfully, she was able to find some Farmers’ Market coupons to help fill part of their table, which means all they really need from us is the turkey. 🦃❤️

You better believe we can handle that.

And because their need was a little smaller than we anticipated, our family is now able to help another family this Thanksgiving too. 🥹💕

I also want to be transparent about something.

Crystal’s Baked Blessings isn’t currently taking orders, and I’m not working right now, so believe me when I say our own funds are suuuuper tight. 😂 We certainly don’t have some giant Thanksgiving-helping-people budget over here.

But that’s kind of the point.

You don’t have to have a lot to make a difference.

Maybe you can’t provide an entire Thanksgiving dinner. That’s okay. Maybe you can buy the potatoes. Maybe it’s a bag of buns, a pie, a turkey, or a few cans of veggies. Maybe you team up with a friend and do it together.

If we can find a way to help someone this Thanksgiving, maybe you can too. 💕

Look around your community. Find the family who’s had a rough year. Check on the neighbour who might be eating alone. Ask around quietly.

You don’t need recognition for it.
You don’t need to post their name.
You don’t even need anyone else to know you did it.

Just be somebody’s reason to give thanks this year. 🙏💕🦃

We’re making a ridiculously moist carrot cake loaded with pineapple, walnuts, raisins and applesauce — and do NOT forget the toasted coconut 🥥 basically fall decided to put on cream cheese frosting. 😂🤤

🥣 CRYSTAL BROOK’S CREAM OF CELERY SOUP

Ingredients:

🌿 1 very large bunch celery, chopped
🧅 1 large onion, chopped
🧄 2 cloves garlic, chopped
🍗 8 cups chicken stock
🥛 4 L 6% milk
🧅 1 pkg onion soup mix
🌾 Flour, as needed to thicken
🧈 Butter or oil for sautéing
🧂 Salt & pepper to taste

Method:

Sauté garlic, onion and celery in butter or oil until softened and the celery is bright green.
In a large pot, warm chicken stock and most of the milk, reserving about 2 cups of milk. Add onion soup mix and sautéed vegetables.
Once everything is tender and hot, remove about 2 cups of the vegetables and set aside.
Blend remaining soup until smooth. Return to pot and add reserved vegetables.
Whisk flour with some of the reserved cold milk until smooth. Slowly add to soup until desired thickness is reached. Season with salt and pepper.

Top with a little celery greenery and serve! 🌿🥣

🦃 A Little Thanksgiving Blessing 💕

Thanksgiving is coming, and this year my family would like to help make the table a little fuller for one local family who could use a hand. ❤️

We’d like to provide everything needed for a good old-fashioned Thanksgiving dinner:

🦃 Turkey
🥔 Potatoes
🥕 Veggies
🥖 Homemade buns
🤎 Gravy
❤️ Cranberry sauce
🍞 Stuffing
🥧 And, of course, PIE.

If your family is struggling this Thanksgiving, or you know a family who could genuinely use a little extra help, please send me a private message. There’s absolutely no shame in needing a hand sometimes, and whoever we help will remain private. This isn’t about recognition — it’s about making sure another family gets to sit down together and enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. 💕

A few people may ask if they can contribute. You are absolutely welcome to if you genuinely want to, but please know we are NOT asking for donations. My family is prepared to do this ourselves. ❤️

What I would really love, though, is to start a little ripple.

If you're fortunate enough to have more than you need this Thanksgiving, consider looking around your own community. Maybe there’s a family, a senior, a neighbour, or someone quietly struggling who could use a Thanksgiving dinner too.

Adopt a family. Fill a table. Drop off a pie. Buy the turkey. Make the buns. Do whatever is within your means.
Imagine how many tables we could fill if everyone who was able simply helped one. 🥹💕

There is more than enough difficult stuff in this world.

I am back with Episode 002 of **Between the Layers** — where I share some of my creations while we talk about the things in life that don't always get talked about.

And this one is something I think a LOT of us need to hear. ❤️

We spend so much of our lives taking care of everyone and everything around us that somewhere along the way, we forget that **we're supposed to be on that list too.**

So while you watch another one of my cakes come together, take a minute and listen.

Take the long shower.

Buy yourself the coffee.

Say no sometimes.

Do something that makes YOU happy without convincing yourself you need to earn it first.

Because you can love the people around you with everything you have…

**without giving them everything you are.** ❤️

I told you I was still here… I’ve just been quietly working on something a little different. 💕🎂

As I find my footing again with **Crystal’s Baked Blessings**, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want this page to become.

Of course there will be baking. There will be cakes. And as I get comfortable in this new chapter, the doors will open and opportunities to place orders will come. ❤️

But I also wanted to create something with a little more meaning.

So… let me introduce you to something new.

Beautiful things being created on screen, while we talk about the things happening beneath the surface — parenting, burnout, depression, self-doubt, healing, self-care, and all the messy pieces of being human that we don't always talk about.

And maybe, every once in a while, we'll remind each other of something we really needed to hear.

I received this message this morning from the mama we helped with the Bluey birthday, and I won't lie… I got a little teary-eyed reading it. ❤️

She kindly gave me permission to share this photo, and I wanted to share it with all of you because THIS is why I do what I do.

Not for recognition. Not for a pat on the back. And certainly not because I expect anything in return.

But because sometimes a little bit of kindness can make a really big difference in somebody's day.

A few decorations I already had, a couple of extra birthday goodies, and some cupcakes made with love… and look at that little smile. 🥹💙

That's it.

That's the whole reason.

I know I've said I'm taking things slowly this time around, and I still mean that. I can't help everyone, and I'm not going to promise that I can.

But this little birthday reminded me why Crystal's Baked Blessings meant so much to me in the first place.

Sometimes you don't need to change someone's whole world. You just need to make one day a little brighter. ❤️

☀️ GOOD MORNING, BAKED BLESSINGS FAMILY! ❤️🧁

Well… apparently my heart is still running this operation. 😂❤️

A few days ago, I shared that a gentleman who supported Crystal’s Baked Blessings years ago had reached out to me. His wife has been through an incredibly difficult year, and he’s trying to put together a celebration for her 51st birthday.

He asked if there was any way I could help with something for around 30 people.

And I’ve decided I’m going to do what I can. ❤️

Three dozen cupcakes it is! 🧁🧁🧁

And they WILL be fancy, because I may be working with a limited budget, but I still know my way around a piping bag. 😂💅

I’m going to put together what I have available and make this birthday happen for her. They’ll be made with a whole lot of love—and probably an unreasonable amount of buttercream. 😋❤️

And honestly? I wish I could get her flowers too. 💐

But I also have to be realistic. I have six kids at home, starting a new school year, and I don’t have money I should be spending on other people. I’m learning that I can have a big heart AND still have limits. ❤️

I also want to be clear that this is one birthday I’ve chosen to help with, not a promise that I can take on every request that comes through the page. I’m still figuring out what this new chapter looks like, and I need to make sure I’m taking care of my own family too.

But today, I’m thinking about a husband who just wants to make his wife feel special after a really hard year. Tomorrow we are going to make this happen for them 💕

If I can help him do that with three dozen cupcakes…

🧁💙 CUPCAKES ARE DONE… AND I'M ALMOST OUT THE DOOR! 🥰

Welp.

A few days ago I said Crystal's Baked Blessings was coming back slowly but surely.

Apparently we have established that I am terrible at the slowly part. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

The cupcakes are baked, buttercream is swirled, sprinkles are sprinkled, birthday candles are ready, and the Bluey birthday goodies are packed up. 🥳💙

Now it's almost time to hit the road and make my way to Salmon Arm for one very special little girl who is turning THREE! 🥹🎂

And you know what?

Standing in my kitchen piping cupcakes again felt... really, really good. ❤️

I don't know exactly what this new chapter of Crystal's Baked Blessings is going to look like yet.

But today?

It looks like cupcakes. 🧁

It looks like Bluey. 💙

It looks like a mama getting one less thing to worry about.

And it looks like a little girl getting to blow out some birthday candles. 🥹🥳

Sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do.
