A little different post for LebanOn The Go today but one that feels very full circle
We’ve spent this past week on the North Shore visiting family, enjoying time together, and of course… I can’t seem to go anywhere without talking to other business owners. 😂
Over the last six years of running LebanOn The Go, I’ve learned A LOT sometimes the hard way about what it actually costs to run a small business.
And one of those costs is payment processing.
This week, while talking with local businesses, I wasn’t surprised by how many were using Square — but surprised by how many had never really stopped to calculate what those little daily fees actually add up to.
One conversation was:
“It was only around $10 today.”
And that’s exactly how I used to look at it too.
But…
$10/day = $300/month
$300/month = $3,600/year
And that’s using a $10 fee day as the example.
That’s thousands of dollars that could be going toward wages, ingredients, equipment, rent, renovations or simply staying in the business.
This is actually one of the reasons I’ve become so passionate about the work I’m now doing with CPOS.
I’m not talking about this as someone who has only ever sold payment processing.
I’m talking about it as the person who stood behind this counter for six years and paid those fees too.
So if you own a business, here’s my little challenge for you:
Go look at what you paid in processing fees last month.
Then multiply it by 12.
You don’t have to switch anything. You don’t have to buy anything from me.
Just know your number.
And if that number makes you raise an eyebrow… well, you know where to find me😅
Small businesses work way too hard for their money not to at least know where it’s going.
