Arrowhead Coffee is now available at Fortinos! You can pick up your favourite coffee while shopping for your everyday essentials and have your next morning’s brew ready before you even get home.

Here's one for the language nerds out there. The word "coffee" traces back to the Arabic word "qahwa," which was originally used to describe a type of w**e.

Over time, as coffee spread through the Middle East and into Europe, the word evolved alongside it, eventually landing on "coffee" in English.

So in a way, your morning brew has been carrying around a case of mistaken identity for centuries.

Brew Guide Wednesday☕️

If you haven't tried stovetop brewing yet, this is the method to start with. The Moka Pot produces a bold, rich cup that sits somewhere between drip coffee and espresso, and it couldn't be simpler to use.
Here's how to nail it every time:

Fill the bottom chamber with cold water, right up to just below the pressure valve.
Add a medium-fine ground coffee to the filter basket. Level it off gently — no tamping needed.
Screw the top and bottom chambers together firmly, then place on the stovetop over medium-low heat.
Keep the lid open and watch. Once you hear a hiss or gurgle, the brew is done. Pull it off the heat immediately to avoid burning.
Pour and enjoy.

The Moka Pot rewards patience and low heat. Rushing it with high heat can leave your cup tasting bitter, so go slow and let it do its thing.
Try it with one of our medium or dark roasts for a full-bodied result that holds up with or without milk.
