We’d like to introduce the four coffees we’ll be pouring tomorrow at the Okanagan Coffee Festival. These coffees have been thoughtfully selected by our Head Roaster, Lemmie, to showcase the diverse range of coffees that we offer.

1. Double Double — a staple from our Everyday range.

2. A clean, washed Ethiopian from Ayla Shantawene.

3. On the opposite end of the spectrum, a bright, juicy anaerobic natural from Fazenda Joia Rara in Brazil.

4. And to round things off, a special collab coffee from one of our favourite producers, Francy Castillo, and coffee creator Emily from emily.

⬆️ This is a limited-release project, and this will be the first time it’s available to the public. So, if you’d like to try something special from some of our favourite people in coffee, stop by and see us Saturday at Okanagan Coffee Festival.

Last year we were Dose. This year, we’re Spilt Milk!

Last year’s was the first look at our new Spilt Milk branding, and this year we’re looking forward to showcasing not only our new look, but also the hard work and dedication of Lemmie, our Green Buyer and Head Roaster.

We’re looking forward to catching up with old friends, meeting some new ones, and, of course, tasting a lot of great coffee along the way.

Can’t wait to see you all there this Saturday!

All of us have a story when it comes to coffee.

As you get to know more about our roastery, we want you to get to know more about the people behind it, too, starting with Lemmie.

Like many of us in coffee, Lemmie’s journey had a turning point. His first truly transformative coffee came from Ethiopia one of those coffees that makes you stop and realize just how much more there is to coffee.

Since then, he’s spent years learning, tasting, roasting and perfecting his craft, much like a sommelier, a deeper understanding of how origin, processing, roasting and flavour all come together in the cup.

And while Ethiopia may have been the coffee that changed things for him, these days, his favourite coffees come from Kenya.

Well, now that the dust has settled, and we have thanked the event organizers and judges lets turn our attention to the competitors who traveled far and wide to battle it out for the opportunity to take home gold and move onto the nationals

To this year’s competitors, THANK YOU for travelling from as far north as Grande Prairie, as far west as Victoria, and as far east as Calgary. We were blown away by the dedication and effort you put in to make it to Revelstoke. As much as we wish you could all take home gold there can be only one winner and this year’s winner was our good friend Jason from The Rocky Bean Co. Congratulations Jason.
Silver went to Eri - ERI えり
and a well deserved bronze went to Ben - Ben Parlee

We’d like to give a special shout-out to our wild card Nick, who stepped up and brought a fresh and authentic approach to the competitors’ table. And a big thank you to Shin and Eri for joining us for their third year in a row. We love seeing you at the event!

Last but not least, we would like to thank our friends who catered the event, REENO'S, with a special guest chef appearance from Nicolas Houle, and of course our dear friends Caitlin and Marney from Drink PRE who travelled all the way from Vancouver,

Well, now that the dust has settled, we would like to thank everyone who made this year’s AeroPress event so successful. As we have so many people to thank, we will be breaking this down into two posts!
Post #1: The event organizers and the judges

Starting with the Big Dawgs themselves, our friends at Eight Ounce Coffee. Shout-out to Bjorn, and thank you for the opportunity to host. We are very grateful that Josh graced the mic and MC’d the event for us.

We would like to thank all of our judges for travelling to the event and sitting in the hot seat. We realize this isn’t an easy task, and we really appreciate you taking on the challenge.

This year’s judges were emily - pretty sure you know which Emily we’re talking about! Bailey, the co-owner of Anarchy Coffee Roasters and founder of Okanagan Coffee Festival, and the one and only Henryk, our resident judge, the owner, green buyer, and roaster behind neon in Kelowna.

We would also like to say a very special thank you to Lemmie Green for roasting the coffee for the event, sharing his roasting facility, known as Lemmie Land, and also spinning tunes for the event.
