Cory Pike, CD – Veteran Advocate, Peer Support Leader & Community Builder
Cory Pike, CD, is a Nova Scotia–based veteran advocate, peer support leader, and community builder dedicated to improving the lives of veterans, first responders, and individuals navigating mental health challenges.
Born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, Cory joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2001 as an Artillery Air Defence Soldier in Gagetown, NB, and served for 14 years. During his military career, he deployed to Afghanistan and was awarded the General Campaign Star – South-West Asia (GCS-SWA), as well as the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) in recognition of his service. His time in uniform continues to shape his commitment to supporting those who have served. Following his transition to civilian life, Cory became actively involved in veteran advocacy and peer support, volunteering as a veteran advocate and peer support coordinator with various veteran organizations.
After nearly 12 years of advocacy and supporting fellow veterans, Cory co-founded the Veterans Wellness Alliance, a non-profit, grassroots initiative focused on improving access to wellness resources, peer support, and community connection for veterans and their families. Through the Veterans Wellness Alliance, Cory helps develop and promote programs focused on mental health support, education, system navigation, and reducing isolation, ensuring veterans and first responders have practical tools, resources, and a strong network to support their recovery and well-being.
Cory is also a Volunteer Veteran Cadre with the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families, contributing his lived experience and perspective as a veteran to support initiatives focused on improving the well-being of veterans and their families. Cory serves as a Vice President within one of the 73 regions of Veterans Canada UN NATO, where he contributes to administration, outreach, and community initiatives, including memorial rides, coffee nights, brunches, and other gatherings that foster connection, rebuild camaraderie, and provide trusted spaces for veterans to engage with one another.
In addition, Cory is a Compassionate Caller with the Mood Disorders Society of Canada and is trained in Level 2 Peer and Trauma Support, Mental Health first aid, and Applied su***de intervention skills training. Through this role, he provides consistent outreach and peer support to individuals facing mental health challenges, emphasizing empathy, lived experience, and meaningful connection. Cory’s advocacy includes contributing to broader conversations around veterans’ policy, transition challenges, and access to care in Canada. He is passionate about helping veterans navigate complex systems and better understand the benefits, services, and resources available to them.
Beyond his advocacy and volunteer work, Cory is a devoted husband to his wife, Lisa, and a proud father in a large blended family of seven children. Family remains central to his life and continues to drive his commitment to service and community. At the core of Cory’s work is a simple mission: To ensure no veteran feels forgotten, unsupported, or alone after service.
