A message from Leon’s Family Restaurant 📢
We are aware of a review that was shared today in a local restaurant group, along with many comments that followed. Since we are not able to respond directly under that post, we want to respond here, on our own page, clearly and respectfully.
First, we respect every customer’s right to share their own personal experience. If someone was disappointed with their meal or service, we are sorry to hear that. Honest feedback matters to us, and we take it seriously.
At the same time, we also need to be fair to our restaurant, our staff, and our family.
A lot of the comments being made online are now coming from people who have never eaten with us, from old experiences under previous ownership, from rumours, or from assumptions based on one post and a few photos.
That is not a fair way to judge a small local family business.
We are new owners. A lot has changed, including the menu, the way we work, and the standards we are building every day. We are working hard to create our own name, our own reputation, and our own relationship with this community.
We also noticed comments suggesting that our food photos or content are AI-generated. We will take that as a compliment. We work with a professional photographer who helps us present our food properly, and we will gladly pass that feedback along. Good photography does not mean the food is fake. It means we care about how our restaurant is represented.
We want to be very clear: we respect honest reviews based on real personal experience. However, spreading rumours, outdated information, or statements presented as facts without personal experience or verification can seriously harm a small local business. In Canada, false published statements that damage a person’s or business’s reputation may fall under defamation laws, including defamatory libel. We hope people think carefully before repeating claims they cannot personally stand behind.
If something is wrong with your meal or service, please tell us while you are here. Speak with the manager, the owner, or our team. If a burger is not prepared the way you expected, if something does not taste right, or if there is any issue with your order, please let us know in the moment.
That gives us a real chance to fix it right away.
When guests leave, pay, are asked if everything was okay, and say that everything was fine, but then go online afterward to post angry comments, it does not give us a fair chance to make things right. It also affects real people, not just a building or a business name. Behind every meal are staff members, cooks, servers, managers, and owners who work hard and care about what they do.
We understand that not every experience will be perfect, and we are always willing to listen. But public negativity after the fact, especially when no concern was raised in person, is hurtful to the people who served you and unfair to the team who could have helped in the moment.
What we cannot fix is a problem we only learn about later through Facebook comments, after the guest has left and the conversation has already turned into assumptions online.
We are not asking everyone to love everything we do. Food is personal, and not every meal will be for every person. But we are asking for fairness. Please judge Leon’s Family Restaurant by your own current experience with us, not by old stories, hearsay, assumptions, or comments from people who have not visited us.
To everyone who has supported us, visited us, left kind reviews, shared honest feedback, and encouraged a local family business, thank you. We appreciate it deeply.
We will keep working, improving, listening, and showing up for this community.
