What an enormously emotional week this has been! Thank you to everyone that has come down or reached out to send us all best wishes! You have no idea how much it means to us. You have no idea how much YOU mean to us!

I’d like to take this time to thank the Toasty Team: My little Maddy, Niki, Thea, Mo, Cory, Mere, Jorie, Sammy, Jaedy, Donette, Mckaila, Sydney, Ally ❤️ They all worked so tirelessly bringing their own sugar and spice to our sweet little Honey Toast! I love you all dearly. Thank you for making my dreams come true and my grandmothers memory flourish. 🍯🐝

To our guests: thank you for every day. For every story, hope, dream and fear that you shared with us! Thank you for sharing your kids and pets with us. Thank you for the visits and the impromptu tea parties and story times. Thank you for inviting us into your homes and lives and making us a part of your big family special days! I want you to know that we talk about you all behind your backs. ❤️

It’s been a week of “lasts”. The last cake, the last batch of scones. God bless the lady at the Wholesale Club that hugged me when I bought the last bag of flour and cried 😂😭.

today is our very last day. We’d love to see you for a treat and a squench!

Happy Mother’s Day! Tell me about a favourite memory of your mom!

My first memory of my mom was long ago, likely a dark and stormy night. I wasn’t very old because I remember having a suzie (soother). I don’t think I was feeling very good and I was in my mother’s arms and being rocked in that rocking chair that matched the 1970’s chesterfield that every one owned. (See pic). The rocking chair had a squeak in it and I remember asking my mom where the squeak was coming from and she told me it was the rocking chair singing me a lullaby.

It’s our sweet Niki’s last day today!

Niki was made from the sunshine. ☀️ she makes every room brighter just my being in it. She is a huge cheerleader, best baby snuggler, always generous with stickers and her huge heart I’m here to tell you that you will never have a lovelier person cross your path. If you know her, even if you’ve just met her, you know what I mean.

Niki is mother to us all (right Maddy?). She will always leave you, fed, hydrated, bandaided and cured with what ever witch doctor elixir she has in her Mary Poppins purse. I challenge you to ask her for anything and she’ll go and get it right out of her magical purse. Tape measure? It’s in there!

Niki will be travelling to the ancient and mystical land called “retirement”, and I could not be more thrilled for her! Come by and give her a squeeze today! I get a quarter every time she cries, so really pour it on!

All the very best to you dear Niki!! We love you to bits! What a wonderful life we’ve had ❤️

They say the only thing that’s constant is change! Isn’t that the truth.

I’ve been given a once in lifetime opportunity to take a significant role in a project that I’ve been working on since COVID. Working with children and our senior community has always been dear to me and this project will greatly support the elders in our community.

While this beautiful and exciting door has been opened to me, another must close. Our sweet Honey Toast Cafe will close its doors May 26th permanently.

The new occupants of #66 Front Street will bring something very exciting and very delicious to the neighbourhood! At the moment, it’s also very secret, and they will announce their unveiling soon, so stay tuned!

Thank you for loving us and supporting us from our ventures at Nautical Dog Cafe all the way across town to Honey Toast. Both inspired by the love and family recipes of my sweet Grandmothers. Sharing your lives with us, your stories, families, your joys and heartbreaks has meant more that you’ll know!

Mmmmm Sunday mornings are my favourite! I love it when our guests come in with friends and just sit and visit. Nothing to do (but laundry). The quiet sweetness before our tourist neighbours arrive with guns a blazing!

Broccoli Cheddar Soup is in the pot and the show case is FULL! Peanut Butter Cookie Dough and Chocolate Crème Brulee Cupcakes are ready to go!

Lots of celebrating this weekend! Birthdays, weddings, graduations and enough cake to feed the city twice!

Good morning loves!! ❤️❤️ So many things to celebrate today! This darling lady is celebrating 50 things! I remember going to a 100th birthday a while back and the guest of honour said on her 50th birthday she wanted to start taking violin lessons but figured she was too old to try something new. Then she said “little did I know that I’d have over half my life to master it. If you’re waiting for a sign, this is it. Do the thing. •
Seafood Chowdah is simmering away today, add a warm cheddar scone to that and your heart will be full!

Why, yes! We do cater! We can do anywhere from fancy pantsy to easy breezy! Our personal favourite is tea parties. The more nonsense the better, I say! If you’d like to chat about having a fun party catered so you don’t have make such a mess of your kitchen, give us a shout!

What a beautiful spring morning! I saw a whole lot of yard waste disposal for our friends at waste management to pick up today! Everyone is getting excited to fluff off the winter and grow things! I love it 🌱
