Dear all,

It is with mixed feelings (and moods) that we announce that...

Food Mood is closing on June 26, 2024 after an operation of 7 years in the heart of downtown Ottawa located in the lively Rideau St. Delivery platforms (Skip and UberEats) will also be closed on the same day.

First & foremost, the Kim family would like to share our utmost heartfelt gratitude and thanks to every single one who has supported us in different ways.

Over the past 7 years, we experienced a lot - together - both trying times such as COVID-19, harsh weathers, but also had the great privilege to be part of countless beautiful moments of our community: your milestones, educational and career plans, celebrations, growth of families and more.

From our family to yours, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives by sharing Korean food with our own creative twist, all made in the kitchen, with love. Food Mood was not only a small family-run small business but a dream in realization since our journey to Canada from Korea.

With thanks to you, we’ve had opportunities to be featured in:

CBC https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-100-ottawa-morning/clip/15890479-take-it-away-food-mood.

We hope to see you in the next couple of days to be part of our final chapter.

We also welcome you to share your experiences on our social media channels: IG/FB: . Should you wish to leave any messages or memories to the chefs who are retiring, a kudoboard has been set up: https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/pcgX4QAa

With gratitude,

Kim Family

TW: residential "schools"

Part 2 of TRC’s 94 Call to Action
***
In light of the recent discoveries of mass unmarked graves at former residential “schools,” Food Mood stands in solidarity with our Indigenous communities. Food Mood acknowledges we are located on the land of the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People. As immigrants, we have a duty to learn about Indigenous Peoples’ history, culture, contributions and ongoing impacts in their communities.

One of the ways we reflected yesterday is by reading TRC’s 94 Calls to Action released in 2015 to further learn and unlearn.

Sharing the second part of report here for ease of reference to read, reflect as we share the grief with our Indigenous communities. First part in the previous post.
