BROWNMAN AKOUSTIC TRIO is a stripped-down modern jazz ensemble built around the classic chordless trumpet-bass-drums format, where space, interaction and fearless improvisation take centre stage. Fluidly delivering reimagined jazz standards, the Trio draws deeply from the acoustic jazz tradition of Miles Davis while approaching it with a distinctly contemporary improvisational language. Led by multi-award-winning jazz trumpet iconoclast Brownman Ali — 10x Global Music Award winner, 2x National Jazz Award recipient, GRAMMY long-listed artist and JUNO nominee — the group showcases the intimate, conversational and uncompromisingly acoustic side of one of Canada’s most decorated modern jazz voices.
