Every chef has a beginning. Chef John’s started at 16.

In this edition of The Chef’s Perspective, Chef John looks back at his first experience in a Chinese restaurant kitchen, what those early years taught him, and the path that eventually led him to culinary school.

From there came years of learning, developing his craft, and working in some of the Lower Mainland’s Italian kitchens, each experience helping shape the chef he is today.

But that’s only the beginning of the story.
