Mayor Buchanan thank you for your warm tribute. Andreas always said you could tell a lot about a person by whether they truly showed up for their community. Mayor Buchanan always showed up. My father and I are proud to call her our Mayor. She leads with heart and intelligence. I encourage everyone to go out and vote!! Early voting starts today.
I am deeply honoured to have received the endorsement of Andreas and Kaity Arsoniadis, owners of the much-loved Andreas Restaurant. This endorsement is especially meaningful to me as we remember Andreas, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
For more than 40 years, Andreas was so much more than a name on the side of a building. He was the heart of a family business built on the values of family, community, integrity, and loyalty.
If you grew up in North Vancouver, chances are you have a story about Andreas Restaurant. For many, it was the late-night gathering place after an evening out with friends. For others, it was where families came together to celebrate life's milestones. No matter who you were, when you walked through those doors, you were welcomed like family, with a warm smile and hospitality like no other.
Andreas gave so much back to the community he loved. From supporting local sports teams and the RCMP to countless community organizations and events, he understood that being a business owner meant being part of something bigger.
Since becoming Mayor, I had the great pleasure of getting to know Andreas and Kaity even more through business meetings, community events, and many conversations about our city. Andreas was always engaged, always interested, and always willing to contribute.
One of my fondest memories was celebrating the restaurant's 40th anniversary and Andreas's 90th birthday in 2024. What a joy it was to stand alongside him and Kaity, helping serve cake to the many people who came to celebrate this remarkable man.
Andreas was truly one of a kind, and he is dearly missed.
To me, Andreas and Kaity represent the very heart of small business in our city. Businesses that are not simply places where we shop or dine, but places where relationships are built, generations come together, and community is strengthened.
Kaity continues that family legacy, and I know how proud Andreas was of her.
Their words of support mean more to me than I can express. Thank you, Kaity, for your friendship, your trust, and for all that your family has contributed to making North Vancouver the community we love.
Andreas's legacy will always be part of our city's story. ❤️
