Since quietly closing the doors to our tasting room on April 29th, we’ve been taking some time to process what this chapter has meant to us and how to properly put it into words.
Like many small businesses, especially in craft beverage and hospitality, we’ve been navigating a rapidly changing industry, rising costs, shifting consumer habits, and the realities of running a family business through challenging times.
Windfall has grown and evolved so much over the years, but ultimately we reached a point where we had to make the toughest choice yet: closing the doors to our tasting room. We always imagined giving this space a proper send off, one last party, one last toast with all of you, but unfortunately that just wasn’t in the cards.
What we did get, though, was years of unforgettable moments. First dates, celebrations, catch ups, community events, rainy patio afternoons, sunny cider flights, trivia nights, and conversations with people who started as guests and became familiar faces and friends.
To our staff, both past and present, thank you for pouring your energy, creativity, care, and personalities into Windfall over the years.
To our suppliers, collaborators, farmers, neighbours, and fellow small businesses, thank you for believing in what we were building.
To our fellow industry colleagues, we wish you nothing but success and good fortune moving forward. We will always support this industry and the people in it. Don’t be shy to reach out. This is simply a chapter closing, not the end of the story.
And above all, to our guests, thank you. Getting to know you was the greatest fuel we could have asked for. You gave this place life.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of Windfall. 🍎❤️
As for what comes next, we honestly don’t fully know yet. For now, we’re taking some time to rest, reflect, and figure out what the next chapter looks like. We’d still love for you to follow along for the journey.
