stay tuned folks its going to be an exciting week! September 20 of last year clarington rezoned our new permanent location at 4504 to allow the Newtonville General Store but instead of spending the last year building a store so I could continue serving the community as I have since 2017 I have been delayed thanks to the appeal opposing the rezoning. This week is the beginning of the hearings at olt, wish me luck folks

what a great first week! It was overwhelming to see so many of our neighbors come to the temporary location to say hi and place orders for all the favorites. The orders have been placed and there will be a little something for everyone. I hope everyone has a great family day and if you need anything at all I will be open until 8 Cheers and have an awesome day!

fantastic first day. Once again I am reminded of why I am so committed to bringing back the Newtonville General Store. Even though it was a rainy day it didn't stop the steady flow of loyal friends and neighbors from stopping by the temporary location to say hi and show there overwhelming support. I am so impressed with all the positivity from everyone in person as well as all the comments online. Thank you all for a great first day and I know each day moving forward will get better and better.

My name is Darryl Kerswell owner of the Newtonville General Store and I am happy to announce that we are back open for business with all the essentials including LCBO and Beer Store products at our temporary location 4532 highway 2 one block east of our original location. My staff and I are looking forward to seeing all of our friends and neighbors once again and stocking up on all your favorite items, so come on down and say hi and put in your requests for specialty items.
This temporary location will allow us to serve our community until we can develop our permanent location at 4504 highway 2 right next door to our original location. The support has been overwhelming and makes me proud to be a member of this community and drives me make sure that every obstacle trying to stand in the way of rebuilding our store is overcome. I did not build the original store by myself. I had lots of help from friends staff and customers whose efforts made the store into what it was and together again we will rebuild better than ever.

Needing community support again. Those with a vested interest (desire to get the LCBO license) have filed an appeal to stop the already approved zoning changing and build.
RELENTLESS!
Please, Help with letters of support etc. I will post the appeal info soon for all to read so we can fight the attempts to destroy an established business!

YAY!!!! Victory! 4-2!
I deleted my earlier confusing post. As they were voting it didn’t seem good, I thought they were gonna vote against. Just as I hit post. The tide changed…. Adrian acknowledge it would be won on appeal, the didn’t have 7 council present only 6 so it would likely be a tie that would drag it out etc. Neil who was vehemently opposed got upset and asked Adrian to step down as chair, Adrian told him NO and then the motion passed in favour of Darryl 4-2!!!!
It was very exciting!!!
