BREAKING NEWS !!!! We had hoped to see an extension for our tenancy, however, the time has come to make this sad announcement.

FINAL WEEKEND of operations until a new location is secured. Thursday SEPT 24 to Saturday SEPT 26th

As many of you have heard five star pizza and 14 other tenants of the rising Hope community kitchen are being evicted from the shared commisary kitchen
at 2025 Bowen road Nanaimo. We were given six weeks notice

This came as a shock to all of us mostly because this was all done in closed door meetings with no input from any of the 14 vendors. Clearly the landlord ICCS has the right to find the best use for the building, but the one vendor they have selected has been unable to find a solution to allowing the vendors to operate until the year end. There is no chance of renting space from the vendor with the new lease.

Several of the small business operators including five star pizza will potential be unable to fulfil cateribg jobs and seasonal business that makes up for over 40-50% of the annual sales for many operators. October through December is the highest volume period for a large number of the operators

It means finding a new location, buying new or used equipment, getting all the required permits, inspections plus being displaced with inventory which requires finding temporary storage.

We have attempted to get an extension from the new tenant that we have worked along side with for the last two years, but they are not willing or able to assist.

Come and see us for the final 3 days to support a hard working crew and let’s hope this is only a temporary closure, but the issues ahead are going to have difficulties that could be a real challenge
