At Café Venosa, we are a vegan, environmentally-vigilant group that seeks to help reduce the animal overpopulation in shelters by adopting our cats and replacing them with other cats from the shelter. All our food is vegan and scrumptious with the planet, animals and people in mind. Even our cleaning products are chosen carefully. We wish not to take from our environment what we cannot give back.

We wish to be a hub of knowledge and fun for everyone, so please share and ask questions! In conjunction with the amazing and relentless
Montreal SPCA, Café Venosa will be hosting adoptable cats from the shelter. All adoptions are to be done at Café Venosa as we will be recognized as a responsible shelter soon by MAPAQ. Our cats will have socialization space, play times, excellent no-grain food from Brandy's: Holistic Center and Canine Café, indoor and safe outdoor spaces to hang, and of course the remarkable veterinarian Dr. Lissa Altschuler as a counselor and carer. Every month, Café Venosa will host a new artist in our gallery space. All artists may apply to: [email protected]

I unfortunately must make another call out for litter and wet food for the 5 cats that I am still socializing and until they are adopted.
They are getting big and eating more and using the litter a lot more!

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you for so, so many donations left on the balcony, sent by you, e-transferred to us and we appreciated any can, bed, litter, toys, and anything that would ease along these babies journeys. We also uased the money to sterilize our one year old male, TimTom Billabong who is recovering very well.

We will soon be in need of litter and wet food, any kind since these munchkins can consume a lot and poo a lot!
But today, I am wondering if anyone could send any kind of monetary donation for us to have the mother of the kittens sterilized. We also need to get her SNAP tested to be sure that the kittens are 100% healthy for inevitable adoptions.

We are looking for a goal amount of about 600$. Vetspress lovingly gives us a very good discount, but with consultation and the SNAP test, it will be around 450-650.

This will help her calm down a little too and she will hopefully be up for adoption soon.

Hi everybody,
As you know, my father, John Geraghty passed away, leaving a legacy of 6 cats that we are looking after and trying to socialize in order to get them adopted.
In the meantime, they need to be fed and they go through a lot of litter! We don't have enough money to do all this right now so we are kindly asking for donations of wet canned food, bags of dry food and litter.
If you are interested in trying to help us out, the donations can be left on my dad's front porch at 392 Fairfield in Greenfield Park. There is someone there twice a day to pick it up and bring it inside.

Hi everyone,
I have not received any notifications about Camelot.
If you put food out for animals, Camelot may move towards your home and consider you a food source. If this is the case, please watch out for a cat who is regularly long-haired black and white but was recently shaved so he would appear like the photo attached but darker.
He will most probably not come towards you but if you see him, I have a cage trap and a net and will come and try to catch him.
Please share this! I cannot catch him without your help!

A cat that was previously feral just came to my home. We just got him sterilized and shaved with the wonderful people at Vetspress.
He must have gotten out yesterday when a window was slightly open.
I don't have much hope of him going up to anyone for help since he had been living outside for a year already; however, if you see a thin, shaved black and white cat (head and tail and paws aren't shaved) with interesting shaved markings on him, PLEASE let me know and I'll arrange to have a trap cage there.
He got out yesterday, May 30th, at Prud'homme and Sherbrooke.
I unfortunately only have one photo of him.

Il est temps d'annoncer que le Café Venosa ne sera pas ré-ouvert, autant que nous avons essayé de le faire. Nous devons déclarer faillite.
Avec une myriade de problèmes auxquels nous étions confrontés, c'était le seul choix que nous avions.
Je voudrais remercier tous les clients qui sont venus, tous les nouveaux parents qui ont adopté avec nous, chaque entreprise avec laquelle nous nous sommes associés (et, espérons-le, à jour avec les paiements ?!), chaque personne qui a écrit et partagé à propos de nous, tous ceux qui ont contribué à nous diffuser, chaque bénévole, et bien sûr, le fabuleux groupe d'employés et d'amis passés et présents qui ont rendu tout cela possible. De plus, une pensée à Tarquin, qui est heureux et en bonne santé dans sa nouvelle maison.
Je vous aime tous et merci beaucoup d'avoir été de cette expérience avec moi. Ensemble, on a sauvé 40 chats !

It is time to announce that Cafe Venosa will not be re-opening, as much as we have tried to do so. We are declaring bankruptcy.
With a myriad of problems that we were faced with, it was the only choice that we had.
I would like to thank every single customer who came, every new cat parent who adopted with us, every company that we partnered with (and hopefully were UTD with payments?!), every person who wrote and shared about us, everyone who helped spread the word, every volunteer, and of course, the fabulous group of past and present employees and friends who made it all possible. Also, big ups to Tarquin, who is happy and healthy in his new home.
I love you all and thank you so much for having this experience with me. Together, we saved 40 cats lives!
