Exploring the mysterious world of seaweeds with your guide Nature’s Chef. Tom will introduce you to these most amazing specimens, the macro-algae that can offer an abundance of food, medicine, survival and first aid uses. Learn the 3 different classifications of seaweeds, including inter-tidal and kelp species. Where and when to harvest, ethical harvesting practices, drying and preparation techniques, and overall health benefits. You will learn how to introduce them to your diet and lifestyle. From play to spa days, this workshop has a whole lot to cover.

What we’ll cover:
- Identifying common seaweeds of the PNW
- Which seaweeds are to consume and not
- Ethical foraging practices
- How to process efficiently
- Preserving methods
- Cooking with Kelp
- Preparing them so they are delicious
- Medicinal uses
- Survival uses
- First-Aid uses
- Toys and play with seaweeds
- Spa treatment

Learn what the sea can teach us, understand as we reconnect with the water world a little bit more it can build resilient community. Nature has the amazing capability to heal us, and make us thrive!

Seaweed season is here 🌿🌊

Over the next few weeks we’ll be getting out onto the beaches, harvesting seaweeds, teaching workshops, sharing meals, and finding different ways to bring these amazing wild foods into everyday life.

If you’ve been curious about edible seaweeds, wild coastal foods, or just want an excuse to spend more time by the ocean with good people, we’d love to have you join us.

Familiar enough that it doesn’t feel like a stretch, but still something completely different.

Made with nettles we picked right outside.

Dandelion → pesto → done.

This stuff isn’t complicated (it can just feel like that before you do it).
