Happy Thursday everyone.
Yesterday we had a kitchen casualty….Chef Mike stopped working, and when something stops working, you don’t realize how often you use said thing - until you can’t use said thing. But we managed to get through the day. Thanks to Home Hardware for not only having what we needed in stock but to Kevin, for responding to our call for assistance.
Business helping business is what community is all about. Thanks to AG Foods for being so supportive over the last 8 1/2 years, to TGP for being a hop-skip and jump away when we need greens, dairy, or whatever really. Thanks to Integris for stepping up and setting up to support our community financial services and also insurance services, and thanks to those who did those things before. Thanks to the Grizzly, Kilin, Heartland, Uncle Mark’s, Main Street Pizza and the Beanery for sticking it out when times are tough, staff is short and prices are skyrocketing. Thanks to Marlin and team at the McBride Hotel & Bar for taking a chance and putting some shine and life back into the historical Bar. Thanks to the hotels, motels and B&B’s for providing accommodations to travellers so they can stay and visit other local businesses. Thanks to Boutique stores like Wahoo, Mountainview Boutique (coincidentally the BEST business neighbour) for offering niche market things that you really can’t get anywhere else. Thanks to the hospital, clinic, therapists, and even travelling professionals that offer services that we might not otherwise be able to get. Thanks to the forestry folks who do forestry things behind the scenes and employ people who become a part of our community. Thanks to the post office, liquor store and government services people who ensure that we have access to mail, alcohol and supports (all of which are important). Thanks to the RCMP members who come here, choose to stay here and become part of the community. Thanks to our village - elected and otherwise who represent us and work for us, cleaning the streets of snow, getting rid of our garbage, maintaining our parks, cemetery and all the things. Thanks to all the volunteers of all the organizations that carry on supporting the community when numbers are dwindling and morale may be low. Thanks to the people who support all of these businesses whether regularly, or once in a while. We can not survive on travelling dollars alone and your support is necessary and appreciated.
Heck, I knew I missed a whole section!! To the businesses that repair vehicles, tow vehicles and fill vehicles with fuel. You are the support that we need to keep moving. To the home-based businesses that supply products that we couldn't get otherwise, fresh goods at farmer's markets and locally made items that set us apart from everyone else. Thanks to the Winter support businesses, that keep trails clear and smooth, and organizations that are run by volunteers to keep our winter tourism happy and active. Thanks to the loggers and farmers who employ many and provide for their families and the community in return. Thanks to the contractors who build the homes for people to live in and the places for people to work in and repair things. Thanks to the daycare and Josh's Place for providing safe spaces for kids to hang out and learn and to potentially provide opportunity for their parents to work. Thanks to Emil Anderson and the all the contractors who keep our roadways and highways clear and safe. Thanks to CN and contractors for local employees and those that come here for work that support our businesses and thanks to the businesses that support them directly. Thanks to the Whistle Stop Gallery for providing a space for artists and artisans to showcase their work for all to see. Thanks to McTech for keeping computers running and Spyder Controls - not quite sure what they do in there, but they employ people who support our businesses.
If I’ve missed anyone I apologize, you’re important too but it’s early and I’m only 2 coffees in. I'll probably add more as I get more caffeine into my system 😉
