Knowing about Chinese Festivals—-Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is the most important festival in China and also celebrated by more than 20% of the world,.
Chinese New Year 2022 officially begins on Tuesday, February 1st., and ends on February 11th., also beginning a year of the Tiger.
Regional customs and traditions vary widely but share the same theme: seeing out the old year and welcoming in the luck and prosperity of a new year.
The main Chinese New Year activities include putting up decorations, offering sacrifices to ancestors, eating reunion dinner with family on New Year's Eve, giving red envelopes and other gifts to children, firecrackers and fireworks, watching lion and dragon dances, etc.
Now Chinese New Year celebrations are being held more and more in Western cities in recent years too, like New York, London, Toronto, Sydney, etc.
