Due to essential construction in our little town of Jordan, there will be a few road closures that may require some extra planning for your next trip to the Bakehouse. From now until well into July, Jordan Road will be closed to southbound through traffic, and 4th Avenue will be completely closed between 11th Street and 13th Street.

From the skilled hands of our resident Plant Wizard and seasoned Garden Expert, Deirdre Fraser ( ), the Bakehouse’s floral arrangements and surrounding gardens have become a vital part of our atmosphere and connection to the land.

Each week, Deirdre styles arrangements grown om yhe and property, using a mix of native perennials and carefully selected annuals for our counters and dining room.

Last week’s arrangements included allium flowers, asparagus, black cow parsley, and verbascum.

An afternoon spent foraging with and the team, learning more about the ingredients growing around us and the role they play in the kitchen.

Living and cooking in Niagara means being surrounded by our incredibly diverse landscape, where forests, farmland, wetlands and the Great Lakes shape the ingredients available to us. Using these ingredients in our menu keeps us connected to the land, season, and environment.

We’ll be saying a heartfelt goodbye to Ryan this weekend, who has been with us since February 2023. Ryan has been such a meaningful part of the bakery - helping shape not just the operations and quality, but the care and pride behind the craft. Beyond his talent, he’s brought a genuine kindness, steady presence, and a work ethic that lifted everyone around him. We’ll truly miss his booming voice at briefing, his “let’s get it done” spirit, and the warmth and ease he brought to each day.

To top it off, today is also his Birthday. If you see him in the bakery window this weekend be sure to give him a wave and a warm send off to his next chapter!

Thank you for everything, Ryan - you’ve left your mark here in the best way.
