Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour Survivors, remember the children who never came home, and recognize the generations of Indigenous families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of colonialism.

Here in Ktaqmkuk, our Indigenous story has its own history- one that for generations was too often hidden, dismissed or simply not spoken about. Today is also an opportunity to honour the strength and resilience of Mi’kmaq and Indigenous people here at home, and the work being done to reclaim culture, language and connection for generations to come. 🧡

As an Indigenous-owned business, we are proud to open our doors today and welcome our community.

And it couldn’t be a more beautiful fall day for a drive down the bay. 🍂

She’s back and better than ever.

We took a summer break from sourdough but with the cooler days and a tiny bit more time on our hands now that fall has arrived, a revival was in order.

She was rehydrated on August 25th- the same day we lost a legend, and we’ve been working with her behind the scenes ever since, making sure she’s strong, bubbly, and ready to take on a fall and winter of baking at The Tilt.

Re-introducing Doughly Parton. She’s been working 9 to rise, and she’s only just getting started!

A little last-minute schedule change this week! 🌊

The café will be closed Tuesday & Wednesday. We apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience, and really appreciate your understanding. ❤️

We’ll be back at it Thursday at 10am- and the forecast is looking beautiful heading into the weekend. ☀️ So we’re stretching our hours a little on Friday & Saturday and planning some home-cooked lunch and dinner specials all weekend.

🌧️ Well, if this isn’t chowder weather, we don’t know what is.

You ask for it all the time and this weekend, our Seafood Chowder is BACK. 🦞🦐 Creamy, hearty, loaded with seafood and exactly what a grey, rainy Lark Harbour day calls for.

And because we had a little Atlantic lobster to play with, we’re trying something new: a very small batch of pan-fried lobster rolls, with sweet lobster tossed in butter & garlic and served with your choice of side salad.

And when we say small batch, we mean it - there are only a few. 😏

But the chowder pot? She’s on. 🥣🌊

Black bottom muffins 🤎

If you grew up in Newfoundland, there’s a good chance you’ve met one of these at a bake sale, church supper, Nan’s kitchen, or tucked into a container on the counter. 😂

Chocolate cake on the bottom, creamy cheesecake and chocolate chips on top- simple, old-school, and ridiculously good.

They are by far one of our top sellers here at the cafe and something that is made fresh almost every single day.

Kendall Jones just pulled a beauty of a batch out of the oven. 😍

All our baked goods are made from scratch (and love), small batch, right here in our kitchen. Come get them before we eat them all ourselves. 🤣
