Everyday I tell my kids to be BRAVE.

And being brave is when you do something even though you are too scared to do it.

Here is a photo of me being brave.

Last time I saw Michele Romanow was at CHFA Toronto 2025. The show was done, everyone was rushing to pack up and she happened to be standing at the booth next to me. She looked over and smiled, and my brain was screaming go say hi, but being too scared and thinking all the negative thoughts, I just smiled back and started packing.

Fast forward to May 21, I was invited to an event by Visa and guess who was the keynote speaker? This time I told myself I was going to be brave, introduce myself and Mindful Monk and just put myself in front of her because you never know.

After her talk, which by the way made me admire her even more (one word: caviar), I jumped up and introduced myself. I was very nervous speaking to someone who’s inspired me so much that I even mumbled I’m scared and she looked me in the eye and said, don’t be. That alone calmed me and. allowed me to share my story, give her some yummy chocolates and take a photo.

The reason I’m sharing this is because entrepreneurship is all about the highs and very lows and doing things you never thought you would. And getting to share those experiences with others is a gift. Something I’ve learned in the last six years of doing this is that the thing you want is always on the other side of the thing you’re too scared to do. So just go and do it!

Thank you Visa for hosting this event and giving me a second chance to meet Michele. Thank you Michele for your inspiring talk and for your kindness. I hope you had a chance to try the chocolates and enjoyed them!

Happy Mother’s Day from us to all of you amazing mamas out there.

I love how my own mother went to just to take a picture with my chocolates to show me how proud she is of me 😭 Her message to me was literally: did you go eat yet for Mother’s Day? Me and your sister are going to walk to Cambie Whole Foods to look at your fudge.

Thanks mommy. I am so lucky to call you my mom ❤️

We’re giving away our new Daily Ritual Bundle (launching soon).

You get 30 single packs, perfect for keeping you on track while still treating yourself every single day. One lucky winner can choose almond, hazelnut, peanut or mix and match to their liking. ($128.70 value, shipped to your door.)

I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mom. Quite literally. Besides giving birth to me, she has been supporting my business since day one. She gives out bars to everyone she meets on the bus, at her appointments, and of course all her friends. The most generous thing she’s done, aside from taking the time to watch my kids, is her recent investment in my business. Because of her I got to build my dream facility that allows us to make more chocolate squares so we can keep helping more people.

This giveaway is for her and all the moms out there.
To enter:
1. Follow
2. Tag a mom in the comments who deserves this (the person who tags wins, not the person tagged)

I didn’t start making chocolates because I wanted to build a brand.

I started making them because I was pregnant, had gestational diabetes again, and couldn’t find one I trusted.

So I made my own. Clean ingredients, sweetened only with pure monk fruit juice.

It all started with her.

But the reason I started this company? That’s part 2.

People tell us our chocolate is too bitter.

Honestly? We take it as a compliment. It means we’re doing it right.

Most chocolate is made with alkalized or Dutch processed cocoa (treated to reduce bitterness and darken the colour). That process strips out up to 90% of the natural antioxidants.

We use organic unalkalized Peruvian cacao. The bitter notes you taste? Those are polyphenols. That depth of flavour? Flavanols. That intensity? Antioxidants.

And it’s not just any cacao. Studies comparing origins from Peru, Venezuela, Ivory Coast, Dominican Republic, and West Africa found that Peruvian cacao had the highest polyphenol and antioxidant content of any origin tested.

We don’t mask real food. We let it taste like real food. No sugar to cover it up. No alkalization to smooth it out.
Mindful Monk is for people who want to feel good about what they eat. Not just while they’re eating it. Afterwards too.

Did you notice the difference when you tried it? Tell us in the comments.

I remember like it was yesterday, the face people would make the first time they tried our chocolate.

I used to call it the monk fruit face.

That “wait, what is that?” reaction. And I used to think it was a bad sign. And I wanted to know why I couldn’t taste it. Then I realized it’s a first-time food reaction. Think about the first time you tried cilantro. Or matcha. Or dark chocolate. Your brain just needs a second to catch up. Unfamiliar isn’t the same as bad.

The sweetness in our chocolate comes from mogroside V, the natural antioxidant compound found in monk fruit. It’s not sugar. It’s not a chemical. And it hits your palate differently because it is different. Chocolate first. Then a clean, slower sweetness that follows.

Here’s why we chose it and nothing else: it doesn’t spike your blood sugar, it has essentially no calories, it’s safe for everyone from pregnant moms to seniors, it’s less processed than monk fruit extract, and early research suggests it even supports healthy gut bacteria.

Health Canada classifies monk fruit juice as a traditional food, not a sweetener, not a food additive. A food. That distinction matters to us.

Your body recognizes real food. That first-time reaction isn’t your body rejecting it. It’s your body asking “where has this been?”

Did you make the monk fruit face the first time? Tell us in the comments.

People have told us our chocolate is gross.

We don’t try to change their mind. We actually thank them for their feedback. It reminds us that we’re intentional about doing things differently.

If you’re still eating sugar every day, this will taste different than what you’re used to. Your palate expects sweetness from sugar. Ours comes from one place only: monk fruit juice. No sugar. No sugar alcohols. No stevia.

That gap is real. And it takes time to close. But once your palate adapts? Clean chocolate becomes the only kind you want.

Mindful Monk is for people who prioritize their health. Not everyone. On purpose.

First time you tried it, what did you think? Be honest. Tell us in the comments.

Peanut is a serious favourite in our house.
You heard her: “Whoever ordered 12 Peanuts has good taste in chocolate.”

Late night packing orders with the girls tonight. I love getting to hand write notes, pack up boxes, and have help from my girls.

Thank goodness it’s spring break ❤️

Almost two months since I got the keys and we’re still not operational.

We’ve made progress, and I’m genuinely grateful for that, especially since this is all new to me. The budget has doubled, it’s taken much longer than I expected, and I’ve learned more than I ever planned to, including stepping into the role of acting GC.

Right before the holidays, I’m reminding myself of this: we have made progress. And we’ll be operational when we are. That’s it.
