At ClearWater Farm, a project of the Ontario Water Centre, we engage in active learning with youth to inform and inspire a strong sense of place. We believe that a water-wise connection with the land is essential to regenerative farming and leads to sustainability and food security. Our Young Agri-preneurs grow fresh, healthy food, and support the economy. Our Georgina barn is being rebuilt to connect the community and our ClearWaterKids.org site is inspiring the wonder years generation.

This week’s Bi-Weekly Harvest Share baskets are officially being packed and we could not be more excited 🌱🧺💚

Our team has been busy harvesting fresh produce, organizing this week’s shares, and getting everything ready for delivery starting tomorrow — Thursday, June 25th.

This week’s basket includes the following items (amounts will vary depending on Small or Large basket purchases):

• Monte Carlo Lettuce Head
• Green Star Lettuce
• Rex Lettuce
• Arugula
• Broccoli
• Spring Onions
• Cabbage
• Purple Kohlrabi
• Beets
• Napa Cabbage
• Swiss Chard
• Kale

We’re also excited to share that our Monte Carlo Lettuce Head, Green Star Lettuce, Rex Lettuce, and Arugula were grown in our Vertical Farm Hub — allowing us to grow fresh produce year-round right here at ClearWater Farm 🌿

🌱What a wonderful day of community stewardship at ClearWater Farm 🌱

This past weekend we were grateful to welcome LEAF and community volunteers to ClearWater Farm for a day of caring for the land and contributing to something that will make an impact for years to come.

Together, we spread mulch around trees across the property and helped support local biodiversity while creating healthier spaces for future generations 🌳🌲

We were also excited to have Future Chicken join us — an initiative at ClearWater Farm that explores the future of sustainable food systems through education, innovation, and helping people better understand where food comes from.

Thank you to everyone who spent the day getting their hands dirty and helping us care for this special place. Days like these remind us what’s possible when community comes together 💚

At ClearWater Farm, some of our seedlings are in their most important stage of growth right now 💧🌱

They need consistent watering to help develop strong roots and healthy structure, setting them up for success as they mature. It’s a simple step, but a vital one in growing strong, resilient plants.

We’re excited to care for them at this stage and can’t wait to watch them flourish in the weeks ahead! ✨💚

🧡 National Indigenous Peoples Day — June 21 🧡

At ClearWater Farm, this day carries special meaning through our relationship with the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation and the shared history rooted in this land.

Overlooking Lake Simcoe stands the Trading Tree — a sugar maple that has watched over this shoreline for more than 200 years. Long before today, this tree was a gathering place where Indigenous communities and early settlers came together to trade goods, exchange stories, and build relationships.

In 2017, the Trading Tree received Heritage Status in recognition of its historical significance and the stories it continues to hold.

That legacy continues through projects rooted in education and connection — We are grateful to be able to honour and share this story, and to continue building relationships grounded in respect, learning, and connection.

This week we’re recognizing Austin, our Summer Student – Food Operations Support at Clearwater Farm 🌱

Austin plays an important role behind the scenes helping keep our food operations running smoothly. His work includes packing baskets, managing inventory, and tracking orders to help ensure produce is prepared and organized before reaching our community.

Austin is known around the farm for being friendly, approachable, and always wearing a smile. His positive attitude and willingness to help make him a valued part of the team and bring great energy to each day.

From keeping things accurate and efficient to supporting day-to-day operations, Austin is a key part of helping get fresh produce from our farm straight to you.

Getting a behind-the-scenes look inside our new Vertical Farm Hub was an exciting moment, and even more special to share it with Rogers TV. 🌱📺

We welcomed Rogers TV to Clearwater Farm to talk with our Executive Director, Chris Campbell, and Vertical Farm Technician, Wilton McVoitte, to talk about our journey and give viewers a closer look at what’s growing inside the hub.

It was an incredible opportunity to showcase the innovation, passion, and purpose driving this space, and how local food production and sustainable growing are shaping the future of our community.

This is only the beginning, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. 💚

She loves both our green and purple asparagus for their fresh, delicious flavour and looks forward to enjoying them every season. Whether it’s straight from the farm or added into a meal, asparagus is always her top pick.

🌱 A Day of Learning at Clearwater Farm 🌱

Clearwater Farm was excited to welcome Lakehead University along with Samuel de Champlain Grade 4–6 students for a fun-filled day of learning and exploration on the farm!

Throughout the day, students had the chance to plant seedlings, play a fun interactive game, and learn all about soil and how it supports healthy growing. It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, teamwork, and excitement while exploring the farm.

We had so much fun sharing this experience and are so glad everyone came out to spend the day with us. Thank you for visiting Clearwater Farm and helping make it such a great day—we hope to see you again soon! 🌿💚
