The venue has changed gears here in (Kamloops, BC 702 Columbia)
The Light House Cafe. While we are a venue gauged toward teens and young adults (13-35ish?) we are no longer equipped with a place that accommodates live music. We are shifting toward video and photography as we hope to eventually incorporate all arts. We are hopeful that we will gain the ability to provide a venue for regularly sched
uled live music again in the future and are planning larger events in the future. A Venue for local participants run by local participants. A Venue based on the concept of Relationship and Provision. We aim to integrate every feasible style of artistic expression. Free Coffee and Tea, etc... provided as well. The Light House Cafe by any other name is still and will remain a concentrated effort to meet the current and future generations where they are at. To enter with them into their social groups, arenas, and spheres of influence. To engage them in, through, and with their interests. To empower them to speak forth. To let their views, insights, foresites, TAKE VOICE. That their expression would bring forward and show forth their Passion! This is an “open venue.”

The Light House is “open” in that we, ultimately are only looking for our participants to be real, and RESPECTFUL. We are open to any genre, to any style of expression (again within the bounds of tasteful respect for all staff, current, and potential participants.), Art, Dance, Poetry, Drama, Music, Photography, Writing, Journalism, etc.. We do and will continue to make every effort to meet the needs for as many modes of healthy expression as possible as they are brought forward. The Light House is Volunteer based and run. The participants are in fact the staff. These staff all have a voice to the extent they are willing to participate, and to the greatest extent available for such provision. It is their ideas, contributions, input, and decisions that will be combined with available resources and put into motion to form the day to day and future functions and prospects of The Light House Cafe. The Light House Cafe was birthed in and is currently held up by provisions of The Light House Community Church of the Nazarene in Kamloops, BC
We are located at 702 Columbia Street. The Light House Cafe had originally taken on the shape of a concert venue of sorts and will be using this platform to springboard into future indevors and integrations. The original group of teens and young adults that helped to form THE LIGHT HOUSE CAFE into it's current form put forward some guidelines that we are attempting to follow through. The venue they would like to see would have opportunity for open mic. They would like to get this to accomodate full bands. Open mic is also “open stage” where the mic is not relegated to music. Where there is room for forms of expression such as spoken word poetry, dramatic skits, music, dance, and more. The venue should also allow opportunities for full concerts and other events. These events should have a cover charge:
to show that there is value in the event
to provide the ability of continuous growth for the venue in order to benefit the participants, both artists and fans
to provide for touring bands/artists necessities in their endevours
to encourage local bands, artists etc... in showing there is value in their work. To provide for humanitarian acts in the local and global community
There has been a consistant thought in the local community to work venues as a way to provide for humanitarian services. Both local and those abroad, including world wide ventures of humanitarian activision. Food donations for Local Food Bank

for every $1 added to the price of entry, needed to recoup some of the expenses, would allow for up to $80 raised directly per event toward a humanitarian necessity.
