Like many of you, we at Syrahs are crushed by the loss of so much of our town. We are in shock and disbelief that so many homes and businesses have been destroyed by the unprecedented wildfire that engulfed our town on July 24. The pain of our fellow community members is acute and we grieve with them.

As the owner and head chef of Syrahs of Jasper, my heart is breaking seeing images of the restaurant as a pile of rubble. As those in the restaurant industry know, the business is not only our livelihoods, but our lives.

As we pick up the pieces, I have been extremely touched by the number of former guests who have reached out, expressing their sorrow for the loss of the business. But we are trying not to dwell on the why or the how and instead move forward as a community.

You will know when our dining room is once again open for service. Until then, we'll be sharpening our resolve—and our knives—to one day create memorable experiences for those dining and those working at Syrahs.
