Café l’Acadie's owner Gary Le Blanc was born into a large Acadian family where both parents hail from the Acadian village of Cheticamp Nova Scotia area and with an enormous extended family, Acadian food, music and culture were the heartbeat of family life. Our home was the 'gathering place' for friends and relatives. Our mother loved to cook and growing up, I could sit for hours and listen to her

sing all the old traditional Acadians songs as she scurried about the kitchen cooking. On special occasions, I would watch in amazement at the fiddlers, mandolin and guitar players sitting around the kitchen table, while the rest would sing out loud and strong, Acadian songs of old. With Fricot on the stove, Rappie Pie and Meat Pie in the oven and desserts galore, it all fed the soul. Café l’Acadie brings many of these Acadian culinary treasures from my ancestors' kitchens to our dining room to share this rich history of delicious food. Café l’Acadie opened its doors on May 5, 2012 and is privately owned and operated. Newly renovated and serving authentic Acadian dishes and other comfort food, all prepared and cooked on site. New Menu, great prices, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.

CAFÉ L'ACADIE IS ON THE "FOOD NETWORK" .. FRIDAY APRIL 10 9PM Atlantic Time

Satellite and cable customers in Canada have a free preview of Food Network for the month of April ...Or you can stream the show with a subscription to Citytv+

Last Spring, Citytv and Halifax's internet sensation Chef Andy Hay came to our café and what a day it was. The production crew, the film crew and Chef Andy Hay ... they were so easy to work with and kept the entire day relaxed and stress free. They were all amazing!!!

I don't know how long the segment will be on Friday's premier episode but I'm sure they will have pulled the best from the day ... and we go to air at 9pm. Sorry for the short notice on this. I just opened my email and there it was.

I live on one side of Peggy's Cove and our playground is on the other side of Peggy's Cove. It has been an absolute privilege to live and work in these communities. Our neighbours on both fronts have been more than we could have ever hoped for. We need to celebrate each other. And so ....... ❤
