End of July means one thing… Hodge Podge is back! 🥕🥔💚

Made with all the fresh-from-the-garden veggies from Angela at Fundy Farms: local harvest, this is one soup (or meal, depending on who you ask!) that people wait all year for.

Loryn O'Brien always looks forward to making Hodge Podge (like a kid at Christmas) and she’s absolutely outdone herself this year.

Fresh carrots, potatoes, green and yellow beans, cream, milk, butter… simple ingredients that become deliciousness in a fricking bowl!

It’s a true local favourite, and every summer we see familiar faces coming back for their annual bowl. And tourists who become intrigued as we tell them about this summer soup/stew/meal that we call Hodge Podge.

Unfortunately due to a power outage in the area we have had to close early. As long as we have power in the morning we will see you for breakfast at 9am!! Happy Canada Day!!

But please let the record show that while I may forget to post on our socials, the cinnamon buns have not forgotten their purpose.

They’re still here.
Still soft.
Still sticky.
Still doing their absolute best at living up to their reputation and making people happy.

This weeks soup is Minestrone.

It's been awhile since we've made this one.... we honestly forgot about it.

This soup is giving “look at me eating vegetables like a responsible adult” moment.

It’s hearty, tomato-y, full of veggies, noodles and spices, and it's the kind of soup you need this week! Just sayin’.

Minestrone Soup is GF but not vegetarian.

Today’s Soup: Leek & Potato 🥔

It’s one of our signature soups that’s become a Cafe classic over the past 4 years.

We start with leeks slowly sweating it out in white wine and butter (which already smells like the kind of day you deserve), then add garlic, veggie broth, potatoes, and let the whole thing turn into the kind of soup that this week is calling for.

It’s gluten-free.
It’s vegetarian.
And it’s just a really tasty soup.

The entire week is shaping up to be perfect soup weather.

Because how does a simple Tomato Soup taste THIS good??

Soup genius Loryn O'Brien was in her element with this one and she nailed it.

Rich, tomato-ey, fragrant and flavorful - the kind of soup that somehow tastes even better with a grilled cheese sandwich placed beside it.

Bonus:
It’s gluten free.

Bad news:
You may now judge all other tomato soups moving forward.
