September 28, 2026 update
The garbage truck is repaired! We ask that everyone continues to bag all garbage going into their bins. It helps eliminate debris in the streets, especially on windy days.

Councillor Debbie Spence and helpers recently painted the crosswalk at Gillam Drive and Railway Ave. The crosswalk will serve multiple purposes as part of the Town's work toward fulfilling the Calls to Action by the Truth and Reconciliation Committee. The Town continues its support of the Indigenous Community.

Some words from Councillor Spence:
For those that may not know the meaning behind the "Truth & Reconciliation" crosswalk, here is general information:
This crosswalk is a symbol of the strength and courage of the residential school survivors and a tribute to those lives lost.
The orange background represents the residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad, who had her orange shirt taken away on her first day at school. The seven feathers running through the centre of the design have special significance to Indigenous communities, as they represent the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers.
These seven guiding principles have been adopted in one form or another, as a moral stepping stone and cultural foundation.
The teachings provide direction on human conduct towards each other, with a focus on moral respect for all forms of life.
These seven guiding principles—centred around wisdom, love, respect, courage, honesty, humility and truth—have been adopted by many Indigenous communities.

Thank you Debbie for helping to educate our communities.
