We like to always offer some gluten-friendly baking on our holiday menu. This Easter we have a carrot cake made with coconut, currants, and almond, topped with brown sugar cream cheese frosting; rich brownies topped with white chocolate whipped ganache and Mini Eggs (by the slab and in the cookie box); and pistachio lemon curd cookies (in the cookie box).

We cannot certify that any of our foods are gluten free, even when we use certified gf ingredients, because we use wheat flour prolifically in our kitchen, and that stuff stays in the air for a while. So while the above are not gluten-free, they are gluten-friendly - iffy for celiacs but safe for gluten-intolerant. And, honestly, so good that the wheat eaters will be happy too.

This weekend’s special loaf is Danish Rye (rugbrød). This is 100% rye flour sourdough, with cooked rye kernels, both from .

Very dense and dark, this bread is best sliced very thin to be used as a vehicle for whatever toppings strike your fancy. Traditional smørrebrød usually includes cured meats and fish, pickles, and fresh, crisp veg, but we wouldn’t judge you for smearing it with nut butter and jam. My favourite, as always, just a 1:1 ratio of bread:butter, with a hefty sprinkle of flaky salt.

Available today and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday) only!
