Meet the chef behind the next chapter of Cook County Steakhouse.

We’re excited to officially introduce Executive Chef Jesse Woodland.

Jesse has been in the kitchen since he was 15, starting out as a dishwasher and working his way through restaurants across Edmonton, the Rocky Mountains, Newfoundland, and Western Canada. Along the way, he earned his Red Seal Journeyman Chef certification from NAIT and built a career rooted in scratch cooking, local ingredients, and strong relationships with the people who grow and produce our food.

You may also know Jesse from Backstairs Burger or his time at the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market, where he managed the Side Door.

Now, Jesse calls Cook County Steakhouse home.

His focus? Thoughtful food, quality ingredients, elevated steakhouse favourites, and bringing a fresh new energy to our kitchen — while staying true to the warm, welcoming spirit Cook County has always been known for.

When he’s not cooking, Jesse is a dad to two young kids and can usually be found playing chess, programming, building Star Wars LEGO, checking out Edmonton’s restaurant scene, or learning something new.

We’re incredibly excited for you to experience what Chef Jesse and the team have been working on.
