Good Thursday morning, Thoughtful Thursday Challenge friends! 🍂

I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving weekend. Can you believe we are already halfway through October? The weather is definitely turning cooler, though we’ve been blessed with some beautiful, picture-perfect sunny autumn days!

Have you stopped to admire the full canopy of fall colours on your street or along our local rural roads? Have you wrapped yourself in a cozy scarf or sweater today? (Here’s hoping to both!) 🧣

Mid-October is often when nature gives us its grandest display of brilliant foliage before its winter rest. It’s a wonderful reminder to slow down, take a drive through the countryside, and appreciate the quiet beauty surrounding us every single day. It’s also the time when we start craving those favourite fall recipes to make the most of the harvest bounty and stay cozy and warm.

This Week’s Questions:
1. What is your favourite fall dish? 🍲

2. What is your favourite indoor activity when October days get rainy or chilly? (crafting, reading, puzzles, listening to music, etc.) 📚🎨🧩

3. What is one small thing that brought a smile to your face this past week? 😊

Your turn!

Challenge Details & Reminders:

🌟A Picture Perfect Day ... SCE Health & Wellness Fair - Thursday, October 8th, 2026 🌟

We are still smiling after such an incredible day spent at the Drayton PMD Arena last Thursday! This year’s Seniors' Health & Wellness Fair was a resounding success, with over 200 visitors and 40 dynamic exhibitors coming together to celebrate health, community, and active living. We truly love our community! ❤️

A BIG shoutout to:

💡 Exhibitors: Thank you to all of our amazing exhibitors—both local and visiting—who generously shared their knowledge, resources, and time with us.

🥗 A Taste of Mapleton: Delicious thanks to Kellson's Craft Condiments, Lily Rose, Undercooked Heat & Eat Meals, and 100 Women Who Care Rural Wellington for sharing samples of their wonderful offerings!

☕ Legion Support: Shoutout to the fantastic Drayton Legion team, who kept everyone energized with delicious "Healthy Choice" treats and snacks all day long.

🧘 Workshop Leaders: Huge appreciation to Kristen, & Caden (MMFHT) , and Cathy (Burton Tax Services) for leading such informative and engaging sessions.

🛠️ Behind the Scenes: Special thanks to Steve and the dedicated PMD Arena staff (Township of Mapleton) for seamless setup and cleanup, as well as our smiling greeters, volunteers, and organizers who made everyone feel welcome from the moment they walked in.

✨ All of YOU: Our wonderful older adults and community members! You came from near and far to learn, connect, and laugh with us. You are what makes our community so vibrant and special.

💐 A Special Farewell & Happy Retirement! 💐

Last Thursday, we also shared one last, amazing working day with our own Glynis Belec, our Seniors' Centre A.C.E. Coordinator for the past six-plus years, as she took that big retirement step at the conclusion of yet another successful SCE event. (By the way - today is officially Glynis' first day of retirement! 🤩)

Glynis was responsible for all the social media posts for the Fair, planning the hall space, coordinating with exhibitors, and so much more in between all the other hats she wore! She has been a wonderful colleague and friend to work with, and an invaluable part of our SCE - Three Amigos Team. She will be dearly missed, but we wish her all the best on her next BIG ADVENTURE — Retirement! 🥳
(Any wagers on how long Glynis will be able to just enjoy rest and relaxation before she jumps into another big project? 😉😄)

Thank you, Glynis, for all your hard work, dedication, passion, creativity, loyalty, and friendship over the past six-plus years. We love you! 💕

📸 One of Glynis's last work assignments on Thursday was serving as our official SCE Event Photographer, so that we can all enjoy these awesome memories for a long time to come.

Shhh ... the library has a lot more going on than overdue books! 📚😉! Come celebrate Ontario Public Library Week at our next Palmerston Seniors' Centre for Excellence Dining Program .

Our SCE friend and Palmerston Librarian, Kayleigh Armstrong, will help us discover all the amazing resources and services that Wellington County Library has to offer (… not just books! ☺️) in her presentation - What’s Happening at Wellington County Library? After her presentation, Kayleigh will put our library knowledge to the test with some fun Trivia questions, and will also ask a very important question – why do you love your library?

Before turning our minds to books – old and new, we'll do what we do best: catch up with friends, welcome new faces, share a few laughs, enjoy the warm fellowship that makes our dining programs so special, and share a delicious homestyle meal. Come sit back, relax, and let us take care of the cooking while you enjoy an afternoon of learning, laughter, and community.

We don’t give fines for being late, but we don’t want you to miss this opportunity to discover more about one of our community's greatest treasures, celebrate Ontario Public Library Week and maybe even show off your Library trivia skills! 📚 Don't wait - reserve your spot today! We look forward to seeing you there!
