Alchemy Cafe is a health conscious cafe in the heart of Dawson City. We are closed until Feb. A place free from alcohol where children and the youth are welcome.

Alchemy Cafe has been created with the community of Dawson in mind, offering an alternative for people who wish to be in a social alcohol & drug free environment. The creation of Alchemy Cafe has been a long process- from the building of the cafe from the ground up to actualising the vision and dream that sprouted the idea of such a place. Over 100 people from Dawson community have been involved i

n building the cafe, literally from the ground up. Great care has been taken to make sure all the materials used are the most environmentally aware as possible. Building in such extreme environments as Dawson has bought many challenges and it has been a huge learning process. The vision of creating a place that speaks to the heart, mind, body & soul and supports sustainable living & farming practices has been the drive behind Alchemy Cafe from day one. A place that supports healthy, inquisitive life on earth instead of destruction and stupidity. Alchemy Cafe food is made with a lot of love. We use as much Organic ingredients as possible. We do not have any white sugar on the premises- when using sugar we only use organic raw sugar. We also use a lot of maple syrup and locally sourced raw honey. All our flour is Organic and our eggs are organic free run. In the summer we source as much local, chemical free produce as possible. We support Dawsons local farmers, we are so very grateful for their incredibly hard work to bring the community of Dawson fresh food. We do offer alternatives for people with allergies & food intolerances. We have a lot of Gluten Free options, even in our sweets and baked goods. However, for those of you who love to sink your teeth into a hot toasted Panini- we have them too! We have a delectable selection of smoothies, protein shakes, iced drinks, fresh juice & of course, COFFEE! Fair trade organic coffee from our local Yukon roaster Bean North Coffee Roasting Co Ltd. Our coffee is made on a manual lever machine and we follow the Italian/ Australian style of coffee making, offering flat white, cappuccino, espresso, macchiato, piccolo latte, affogato and many more yummy concoctions! All our desserts, dressings, sauces & dips are made on site in the Alchemy Cafe kitchen- so is our scrumptious Granola! We also offer internet access and Apple computer repairs and sales- in partnership with MEADIAsolutions - which is indeed, VERY handy in Dawson!

At this point hope is dangerous. Hope is the thing that keeps us from getting ready for another world no human has seen. I call what is needed pro-social-prepping: get ready while having fun at it. Plant these potatoes and host the giant barn party you haven't hosted in 20 years. Go read poetry to the city council on standing committee nights that are open to the public. Do that 10 day silent retreat and make friends with your own core... and open your heart. We are all in this together.

Last but not least, this is Florian Boulais, who will bring the delicious healthy food and so much more to the retreat. Even if you've met Flo at the ALchemy Café before, here a a few more sides of him:
Jack of all trades, master of some, constantly learning more, he has been passionate about understanding what it takes to find peace, purpose and joy in uncertain time for the past 25 years. Florian is a newcomer to Canada, long-term Yukoner and an Integral Coach, facilitator, long-term Vipassana Practitioner and MHC Resiliency Teacher (Certification in process). He will guide you through techniques designed to enhance your intuitive abilities to discover and connect with your Self and your purpose, so that you may live a more resilient and meaningful life in alignment with your Self’s deepest yearning. He is also a musician and an artist who integrates life-long personal experiences and studies of world indigenous and ancestral story, collective evolution, philosophy, psychology, myth and healing in his work.

And today we're presenting Kat, the third out of the four practitioners at the Root and Rise retreat:
Katrine Frese is a facilitator, trainer, educator, researcher, geologist, consultant, animal lover and so much more. Gifted with natural curiosity and intelligence, Katrine’s calling is connecting people and facilitating meaning-making relations. She is driven and dedicated to the people and projects that make herself and her community better. After spending her life on various continents, Katrine is a newcomer to Canada and has lived, loved, laughed, worked and played in the Yukon for the last 15 years. Katrine loves the movement as well as stillness. Since a very young age, she was drawn to yoga as a way to calm her mind and connect to and embody the animal world. At the same time, not many days passed without a pencil in her hand creating, analyzing, calculating. If there was a slogan that expresses her philosophy best this would be ‘The only thing I know is that I don’t know.’ She is a lifelong learner and has changed life multiple times, always looking for more truth and peace.

Over the next 3 days we'll present the hosts of the Root and Rise retreat. Let's start with
Juliette Anglehart Zedda, owner and operator of Grace Space in Whitehorse.
Counsellor, Coach, Supervisor, Facilitator, Psychosomatic & Expressive Arts therapist, Yoga teacher. She will meet you where you are. A real treat to work with her.
Juliette sees humans for who they are, including all the dimensions of our beings: cognitive, emotional, somatic, interpersonal, moral and spiritual and she deeply rejoices in the presence of socio-cultural and ethnic differences. We all have shadows and blindspots, animal instincts and drives, attachment to our sense of self (ego) and to our personal expectations and we are also made up of amazing divine gifts and wonderful loving capacities. Juliette believes that each one of us is on a journey of recovery, healing, repairing, growing and learning how to manifest authentically and creatively. She also believes that the individual personal work we do directly impacts those around us and our society at large. In order to find health, we have to connect with our families, neighbours and communities and to start deeply honouring our land, resources and all sentient beings.
