NEW FEATURE ROASTER: COFFEE WALLAS

VERY excited to bring in Coffee Wallas to our line up of feature roasters at Laneway. "Coffee Wallas" is a play on the term "Chaiwalla" which refers to a tea vendor in India. This loosely translates to "People of Tea" and our new friends at Coffee Wallas are certainly "People of Coffee". They specialize in highlighting coffees from Asia, a huge region within the coffee industry that tends to get overlooked in terms of specialty coffee!

Here's some photos of us cupping the samples the folks at Coffee Wallas sent to us. ALL their coffees were exceptional, but as a team we picked our two faves that we are very thrilled to share with you now on the shelves and pour over menu at Laneway!

Laos, Naga Gesha : such a lovely coffee, super well suited to a pour over, this coffee is tea-like, comforting and I experience a beautiful aroma of orange blossom.

China, Gao Natural : this coffee blew us away with how sweet we perceived it!! Reminded us of sweet red apple and candied pineapple. Again, SO SWEET and juicy.

NEW FEATURE ROASTERS: Presenting coffees from and for the first time at Laneway!

Their coffees are available on our retail shelf and we're serving the following two on our pour over menu:

Fuji Ikizere, a washed Rwandan coffee from 61 female producers delivering to the Fugi Washing station and roasted by Detour Coffee out of Hamilton ON. On pour over it's tea-like, reminding us of lemon tea, mango and milk chocolate.

El Indio, a natural processed coffee from Plandas Farmers Association in Colombia and roasted by Pallet Coffee out of Vancouver. On pour over this coffee is full bodied reminding us of dark chocolate, passionfruit and maraschino cherry.

FEATURE ESPRESSO: "Blossomed", Ethiopia/Colombia Blend from

This is a very special coffee we are serving as a feature espresso and pour over. One of the coffees in this blend was co-fermented with a rose petal tea bringing a rich floral tasting note that's balanced with chocolatey sweetness and stone fruit.

We've got it dialed in to really enhance the sweetness and rose aroma. By itself it's a really silky espresso but it's also super tasty with milk as a cappuccino which transforms the chocolate tasting note to a white chocolate and the raspberry and rose to mango.

If you're on the fence about purchasing a bag (as it is higher-end) definitely recommend trying it as an espresso or pour over in house!
