We have a new pasta dish with shrimp! This dish originating in Monterosso (Cinque Terre) was inspired by one of our guests (who I have loved for 25 years!) Regan described it as the most delicious shrimp pasta dish she’s ever had. Egg Linguine pasta tossed with an almond pesto (garlic, basil) hints of agrumi (orange and lemon). I’m happy with how it turned out, and think fondly of Regan Daley each time a guest orders it! ❤️❤️❤️

Dear Friends of Pomona,

We’re writing to you today with hearts full of gratitude—and excitement for what comes next.

After four beautiful years of sharing meals, milestones, and memories with you, Pomona is preparing to turn the page to a brand-new chapter. Our final restaurant service will be Saturday, December 19—but this is far from goodbye.

In January, we will open our doors as Pomona Italian Bakery.

This evolution comes from a deeply personal place for both of us. While we are incredibly proud of the restaurant Pomona became, we found ourselves dreaming of a way to connect with you even more deeply—and more often.

We wanted to create something that feels like an extension of home: a place where the community can gather naturally, every single day. A bakery allows us to do just that. It brings us back to the very heart of what we love most about Italian food culture—the warmth of breaking bread, the comfort of a morning pastry, and the simple joy of hospitality that welcomes everyone.

Everything you have loved about Pomona—our commitment to exceptional ingredients, our care in preparation, and, above all, our love of feeding people—is being poured into this new dream.

We’re trading late-night dinner services for early-morning ovens, filling the air with authentic, tradition-rooted breads, pastries, and a few delicious surprises along the way.

As we look back on these past four years, we are overwhelmed by the kindness this community has shown us. You didn’t simply support a business—you breathed life into our dream. Your laughter, the milestones you celebrated around our tables, and the friendships we have made have meant more to us than we can say.

December 19 will mark the quiet close of one beautiful chapter, but January will bring the vibrant beginning of another. We cannot wait to welcome you back into a space created to embrace you even more often.

Thank you for walking this path with us.

The best is truly yet to come.

With all our love and gratitude,

Lisa, Chelsea & the Pomona team

📍 HELP US MAP NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY’S FOOD SYSTEM!

What’s working well? Where are the gaps? And where are there opportunities to strengthen our local food system?

The Centre for Healthy Communities at Loyalist College is conducting research as part of the Northumberland Can Feed Northumberland project, with support from Community Power Northumberland and guidance from a local Steering Committee.

If you grow, produce, prepare, process, sell, distribute or provide food, or are involved in food access, education, community programs, policy, planning, health, agriculture or other work connected to the food system, we want to hear from you.

Your input will help us build a clearer picture of the people, farms, businesses, organizations, programs, services and other resources that make up Northumberland’s food system. It will also help us identify what is working, what is missing and where stronger connections may be possible.

➡️ Complete the survey by October 12:

It’s Friday once again and at long last we finally have some rosé in our fridge! This 2025 “Poolhouse Rosé” from The Farm is the PERFECT summer w**e. We love The Farm Wines and already carry their chardonnay and one of their pinots so getting this on our list made sense. Made from 100% Gamay grown in Niagara’s Twenty Mile Bench, and wild fermented in stainless steel.

Only aged for a year, this is a young, lively, bright, and refreshing thirst quencher of a w**e. It’s like eating fresh strawberries on the beach under an umbrella (the ones from the farmer’s market though, not driscoll’s). Lots of fresh crunchy red fruit but it’s bone dry and pairs well with food just as much as it pairs well with just some sunlight.

Sit on our patio, put on your sunglasses, drink rosé, eat branzino, drink more rosé, then have a piece of our rhubarb custard pie. Summer just started, but don’t let it slip away! Come walk in for lunch tomorrow or book online for dinner!

July 9th, 2026 - Sharing some pics of our dinner service last night!! We made a couple changes to our menu this week including a new ricotta gnocchi that is being served with browned butter, toasted walnuts, and a summery pesto made from local garlic scapes! We’re also getting some great zucchinis in the door that we’re serving up alongside our beef tenderloin , and Chelsea’s making whole branzino al forno stuffed with lemon & thyme for our fish this week. We finally got some rosé in the fridge! But more on that soon.

Although we’re gearing up for what looks like another hot and sunny weekend, it does look like it will rain tonight but we do have a little space available inside tonight for some last minute reservations. Call or book online!

July is here and it is hot! But that doesn’t mean you have to stick to cold crisp white w**es. Pinot noir is one of those reds that can and should be enjoyed year round. This one is from The Farm, a 10-acre family owned vineyard in Niagara’s Twenty Mile Bench. They use organic farming practices and their w**es are wild fermented, unfiltered, and unrefined. This is minimal intervention w**e without any of the “funkiness” some might associate with natural w**e.

It’s medium bodied with lots of fresh red fruit, a little spice, a touch of earthiness, and balanced acid. If the thought of eating sour cherry blasters around a campfire in the forest sounds like a good time to you, you’ll probably like this. And if you have doubts about Ontario w**es, let the purity of this pinot change your mind. Versatile enough to pair with all your apps right to the main course, this is a lighter red with the right acidity and fruit to even pair with fish (don’t knock it until you try it).

We’re giving this a little chill and pouring this by the glass this weekend along with their Chardonnay so you can try both! And just a reminder that we’re open for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays. Escape the heat, sit in our air conditioned dining room, order our off menu sandwich, sip on this, and realize that Niagara is a world class w**e region.

Happy Friday! The sun’s out and we’re pouring this “Grisela” Soave Classico 2023 from Cantina Cornelia T.E.S.S.A.R.I. & Corte Grisela by the glass this weekend!

Located in Italy’s Veneto region, Soave is known for producing fresh, crisp white w**es made from Garganega, the indigenous varietal of the region. Grown on volcanic soils, this w**e comes with a real minerality and a subtle salinity, giving crushed seashells on the palate along with a strong lemon/lime flavour, and floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied and dry with high acidity, this is a dream pairing for our shrimp ajo blanco or our branzino!
