Someone's very happy to be back!

Welcome back Clinton.

The café will be open tomorrow, Sunday August 16th at 8:00 am.

It's been a long 3 weeks but now we're ready to rebuild.

Today is going to be a busy day for everyone, including us. Today will be a full day of cooking, cleaning and restocking.

We can't provide much, but for returning residents, help yourself to coffee made with bottled water and cookies.

We had a truly profound experience at the Abbotsford airport today!

My mother ​Maria and I had the absolute honour of welcoming the second wave of 106 Wildland Firefighters from Mexico to Canada!

It is incredibly humbling to know that they would risk their lives to help protect our neck of the woods.

​We couldn't show up empty-handed! Our truck bed was loaded with Mexican snacks, which we hope will provide a perfect reminder of home and boost their morale while they undertake this challenging and dangerous work. On behalf of our community, we honour and welcome your support!

We had a chance to talk to the Minister of Forests last night, we're preparing a Mexican care package for delivery!

Some of our family in Mexico has been reaching out to us, excitedly proclaiming that they are sending Mexico's best wildfire teams, including the elite ops from JALISCO!

Maria is so proud, we're all so proud, that hundreds of Mexican Firefighters are coming to risk their lives to help our area. We invite them all back to our cafe in Clinton when this is all over!

We are safe.

We spent the first night with the fine folks from Mangia Bene Restaurant Ltd. They took us in, gave us some fantastic food from their place. We are now safely staying with new friends in Kamloops to remain closer by the community.

Maria, myself and some friends worked tirelessly to make some defences of my property at Meadow Lake Rd and some other neighbours.

We received word that it was hit that Saturday night by some people who were checking it out. We lost the barn and some restaurant equipment stored nearby, but consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have the home relatively unscathed. We were definitely let off easy and wish to extend our prayers to others who lost more. We hope to do anything we can to help support a return to town and do what we can when we return.

Please stay safe everyone, and we pray for others who are still facing fire risk. Thank you to all the crews working now that are defending properties.

We know you are doing your absolute best and we thank you for your courage.

To the people messaging us to see if we have already evacuated. We are going to remain a bit longer although that time is coming very soon. We are packed and will leave if escape is required within 5 minutes. There are high winds and and we've heard thunder.

Everyone is fighting very bravely to protect our village. I'm optimistic that they will do everything physically and mentally possible.

We are obviously closed to the public.

Thank you for all your wishes and prayers.

Today was the last breakfast/lunch we made.
We went back to the old reliable lonches. They will be getting their cooking crew tonight!

Now that our massive coffee pot is freed up, we decided to put it out. We also had tons of leftover snacks so that's going out there too. If you see a crew looking for coffee let them know it's out there. We will try to get it out as early as possible.

For now it's time for a well earned rest! Thanks to the community that helped make this possible.

Last BCWS Dinner before the Camp cooks arrive tomorrow. We jammed packed this one!

On the menu tonight: A slab of lasagna with an enormous pork chop, Curtido and Corn Bean Salads. Soup with a ton of meats and Root Veggies. Lemonades, Sodas, Chips and Feastables.

They did great work today and deserve the best!

See you at breakfast tomorrow with fresh lonches!
