Hereβs a brief rundown on different kinds of teas, and their caffeine content.
βοΈBLACK TEAβοΈ
Black tea is the most common type of tea to find in this part of the world. It has a high caffeine content and a bold, strong flavor. It is great blended with fruit, nuts, and all kinds of herbs and spices to create a wide variety of popular teas, such as chai and earl grey.
π΅GREEN TEAπ΅
Green tea is even more common than black tea in certain countries such as China and Japan. It has a lower caffeine content than black tea, but it still contains caffeine. It is known for a more delicate, vegetal flavor as well as a myriad of health benefits. Green tea is great blended with fruits and flowers or ground into a powder known as matcha.
πΈWHITE TEAπΈ
White tea is a very delicate type of tea. It is similar to green tea in flavor though lighter in caffeine level. It tends to be a bit fresher tasting than green tea, and can often have fruity notes.
π±OOLONG TEAπ±
Oolong is the broad category of teas between green tea and black tea. That means it can range from 5% to 75% oxidized. Oolongs have a mid-range caffeine level, and their flavor can be described as anything from nutty to creamy to floral.
βοΈPUβERH TEAβοΈ
Puβerh is produced similarly to black tea but is then fermented, giving it an earthy flavor. Puβerh that is fermented naturally over a long period of years is called βraw,β while Puβerh thatβs fermentation is sped-up to a period of a few months is known as βcookedβ. Puβerh has approximately the same amount of caffeine as black tea.
πΏHERBAL TEAπΏ
Herbal βteas,β also called tisanes, are infusions that do not come from the camellia sinensis plant (which the other types besides Rooibos do). They can be made from all manner of herbs, spices, fruits, nuts etc. Herbal teas are generally non-caffeinated, but certain tisanes, such as matΓ©, contain as much caffeine as black tea β or more.
π±ROOIBOS TEAπ±
Rooibos comes from a South African bush. It has a woodsy and nutty flavor that makes it a great base for all kinds of delicious caffeine-free blends.
πFRUIT TEAπ
Dried fruit has no calories and a great alternative to sweeten your water naturally with out harmful artificial ingredients. There is no caffeine and some have butterfly pea flower in the mix that allows for the tea to change colour when mixed with lemon. A dusting of sugar is used as a drying agent only.
