🎉 25 Years of WASABIYA 🎉

This month marks two years since I took over Wasabiya. But did you know? Last week, the previous owner, Hiro, reminded me that June 19th was Wasabiya’s 25th anniversary.

When I took over the restaurant two years ago, I never imagined how much I would learn and grow through this experience.

Since our friends at Koto Japanese Restaurant closed, we have become the only Japanese-owned Japanese restaurant in Campbell River. It’s not always easy, but I will continue doing my best to keep Wasabiya running for as long as possible, with pride as a Japanese owner.

Thank you for supporting Wasabiya over the past 25 years. We truly couldn’t have done it without you. 🙏🍣

Looking back at my post from two years ago when I took over Wasabiya, I feel a renewed sense of commitment and gratitude. I will continue working hard to serve our community and carry on the tradition that has made Wasabiya a part of Campbell River for 25 years.

🎉 2 Years!! Time Flies!! 🎉

Hi, it’s Hiroki 🍣

It’s been 2 years since I took over Wasabiya. (Wow, that means I’ve been here for a total of 12 years!)

What was the highlight? The Ramen POPUP? Definitely one of the biggest highlights! 🍜

I truly love being here every day—even doing something as simple as answering the phone. It’s always wonderful to see customers who have supported Wasabiya since Hiro owned it, as well as so many new faces who have become part of our journey.

Running a small restaurant is never easy—and lately, it feels more challenging than ever with rising costs, the current economy, and staff shortages. However, we’ve reached this 2-year milestone because of our amazing customers, my friend Yasu and Team Kokoro Ramen, my incredible staff, and my family.

I can’t thank everyone enough for the support, encouragement, and kindness you’ve shown us. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a wonderful community here in Campbell River.

I’m proud to see Wasabiya continue to grow and improve, and I’m excited about what the future holds. At the same time, my top priority remains the same lesson Hiro taught me from the very beginning: never compromise on quality. That commitment will never change.

My goal is to keep serving the Campbell River community for many years to come, and I’ll continue doing my very best every day.
