I’ve been dreading this, but I’m afraid I need to raise my prices a bit. It’s been 3.5 years since the last increase so it’s time. I think my prices are still very fair considering the effort that I put in and the quality of ingredients that I buy or produce. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this hot house just outside the pizzeria. I built it against this dark concrete wall because the concrete absorbs heat during the day then releases it into the hot house at night. Of course the opening is closed at night. Then, during the day I put the plants outside in the sun and wind to allow the plants to grow up nice and strong. They love it, and so do I! Soon they will be ready to go into the garden. I wish I could say that I grow everything that goes onto your pizza, but I can’t. I grow what I can during the short season that we have. Garlic, basil, arugula, and grape tomatoes are what I do best.

These memories came up this morning from April 11, 2014. First day in business with the pizza trailer. Obviously I didn’t have time or any money left to get regular haircuts. My son Nick was there to help me with everything that day. Our customers that day were mostly kind friends and neighbours and a few
walk-ups in the parking lot at North Glenmore park. The learning curve was steep, but it’s been a great run. No regrets. Gratitude to all my amazing customers and all the support I’ve received from my family and friends over the years.

It’s the beginning of my favourite time of year. Starting some plants inside gives me a head start on the gardening season.
