While today was supposed to be a celebratory day with our first official day of retirement, we are heartbroken to see that someone has STOLEN our Silver Inn Restaurant sign. This sign has been with our family since the restaurant opened in this location 1975.

On behalf of the entire Silverinn family, I thank you for the many years of support. It has been a long run for us. Along the way, we met some of the greatest people and made many friends. It is a bittersweet moment for us as our journey ends. I am grateful to be able to see some of you the last time, sharing hugs and tears. For those that weren’t able to come in for their final meal, I apologize. Your support made us. As we enter our next phase of the journey of retirement, maybe we will meet somewhere in a Timmy complaint about the weather or a park playing with our grandkids.

Since the announcement of our closing, the support has been very overwhelming. I am very grateful that so many of you want to come and have one last meal. Seeing all of you for possibly the last time is also very emotional for us as I have gotten to know you for many years; from the kids you were, to bringing your own children to our restaurant. I have seen generations of your families grow up with us.

As much as I want everyone to come, the reality is, it is impossible for to us to handle all the requests. It’s beginning to affect our quality of service and food. For the remaining days, we can no longer take reservations, walks ins or taking orders over the phone. Our phone has been ringing nonstop and it is simply impossible to answer the phone anymore. It takes time away from us to do the food preparations and services.

We take pride in over the years, serving you the best quality food and we will continue to do so, which means our hours will also be shorten going forward so we can properly prepare your next meal. More importantly, I want our exit to be as meaningful and memorable as possible so we can properly thank each of you that come in during these remaining days.

On behalf of my staff, many of which have been with me for decades, we sincerely thank all of you for your support and wish all of you the best.

After 47 years serving Calgary with the first peking style Chinese food, sadly, we will be closed on October 9, 2022. It is a difficult decision for us. We met a lot of very nice people over the years and seeing generations of customers grow up with us. We are also very proud to be recognised in putting Calgary on the culinary map with our invention of ginger beef.

We appreciate all the support you have given me and Teresa, my sisters lily and Louisa. We will miss you all.

Although our final day is October 9, it doesn’t mean Silverinn will be gone. We are developing a new business plan, maybe someday a new version of Silverinn will re-emerge in Calgary or elsewhere in Canada.

Have you noticed that there is construction happening around us??
Don’t worry, we are still open, however, access to the restaurant is limited.

Until August 17th, we are only accessible via 27th Ave and Centre St N. Please enter through the McInnis & Holloway parking lot at 27th Ave and Centre St.
Access from the south side requires a slight detour to Edmonton trail or 4th St NW to 32nd Ave and back up Centre St.

We will be welcoming our customers to dine in starting Thursday June 10. We are excited in seeing our regulars and new customers enjoying our dishes as it is meant to be, hot and fresh right out the wok to the table.

Just remember, covid rules still apply. Mask and social distancing. Maximum 6 people per table, no household restriction. That’s mean you can enjoy your visit with friends that you haven’t seen.

We recommend you to make a reservation as seating is reduced due to social distancing.

WOW!!! Look at all these orders from last night!! It was even crazier than Christmas Eve!!

We thank you so much for your patience with us during these times while we adjust to the “new norms” and for social distancing beautifully when picking up; you really helped us out by forming a nice line!
We super apologize to those we weren’t able to serve as understandably we were drowning in these current orders!! We even had to take the phone off the hook at some point!!

Thank you for all your support, especially through 2020. Wishing you health, safety, and a great happy new year of 2021; from our family to yours!
