For the past 4 years the Canadian Sport Centre Calgary (CSCC), in cooperation with Chartwells and the University of Calgary Dining Centre, has offered the Fuel for Gold nutrition program over the lunch-hour in the Dining Centre (DC) on campus. Originally created for CSCC registered athletes, the primary purpose of the program is to provide high performance athletes with convenient, affordable and nutritious lunch options. Fuel for Gold at the DC is also offered to the students, Dinos’ teams, faculty and staff of the University as well as to the general public. Weekly menus are created by CSCC dietitians, strength trainers and Professional Chefs with a focus on nutritious meals which aid athletes’ recovery after a hard morning of training. Taking a cue from this original Fuel for Gold program, the CSCC is looking forward to growing its relationship with the University of Calgary student, Dinos’ teams, faculty and staff population with the opening of a Fuel for Gold food kiosk in MacEwan Hall. Fuel for Gold Mac Hall is now open; serving nutritious meals made with fresh, organic, locally-sourced ingredients and continues to be inspired by Canada’s athletes.
