Dessert season has arrived at Fortuna’s Row.

Chef John Sinco’s new summer collection has officially landed, and it might be his most ambitious work yet. Bright fruit, tropical flavours, intricate technique, and just enough nostalgia to keep things grounded.

A bergamot-spiked cinco leches with Earl Grey chantilly and macerated berries. Basque cheesecake paired with passionfruit sherbet and honey. Cassava funnel cake with roasted peach and mango. A strawberry carlota finished with hibiscus-guava granita.

And for those inclined to skip directly to dessert, Teobroma returns as a sculpted cacao pod filled with a collection of chocolate confections. Worth saving room for. Possibly worth planning dinner around.

As evening settles in, Fortuna’s Row begins to glow.

Massive skylights cast the last of the light across the dining room while long tables fill with cocktails, shared plates, celebrations, first dates, birthdays, and the kinds of dinners that slowly turn into late nights.

Whether it’s two guests settling in at the bar, or twenty gathered around the harvest table, Fortuna’s Row was designed for exactly this: good food, balanced drinks, and a room that makes lingering feel inevitable. Latin-inspired dining that’s best enjoyed together.

While May long weekend weather remains notoriously unpredictable, heaping plates of Benny Bowls with lamb barbacoa and cassava tacacho, Bistec con Huevo with skirt steak and bone marrow chimichurri, and Enmoladas layered with confit duck thighs and black garlic mole await this Saturday and Sunday to distract you from it all.

Settle in for something a little more leisurely this long weekend. Fortuna’s Row continues to operate as a small nation of warmth and tropicality regardless of what’s happening outside.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea now available at Fortuna’s Row.

Once a year, Fortuna’s Row shifts its pace for an afternoon tea that leans gently Latin, less tradition for tradition’s sake, more a thoughtful reinterpretation. The room softens, the table fills, and the experience unfolds in small, deliberate moments.

There are savouries to begin: a crisp rosette with chicken liver mousse, sweet corn folded into a delicate pancake sandwich, a warm crab cake set on brioche. Biscuits and cakes follow; pan dulce with cream and preserves, coconut and parmesan custard, alfajores layered with papaya and coconut, all beforee easing into something sweeter: strawberry sponge, suspiro de Limeña, guava and cream cheese, chocolate with pistachio.

Tea, of course, anchors it all, with coffee and Mexican hot chocolate for those inclined, and a few well-timed mimosas available for good measure. This your first notice that tickets are now available via

It’s never too early to starting thinking of Mom. On Saturday, May 9th at 6:30pm, Fortuna’s Row hosts Dulces Para Mamá: an intimate, 20-seat tasting built entirely around chocolate and cacao. Designed by Chef John Sinco, the evening moves through five courses, each exploring a different expression of cacao, from raw to dark, with influences drawn across Latin America and beyond.

Not every Mother’s Day calls for a long lunch or a crowded dining room. Some are better spent a little differently. With Dulces Para Mamá, guests are guided through a 90-minute experience that leans into flavour, texture, and contrast, with beverages available throughout to match.

For those looking to mark the occasion with something a little more considered, this is a rare seat at the table. $95 per guest. Limited to 20 guests total. Book via OpenTable Canada

Chocolate co**ha. A classic Mexican pastry, reworked with a deeper cocoa profile, soft crumb, and that signature shell top that adds just the right contrast. It’s familiar, but dialled in for the way we like to eat in the morning ,alongside coffee, something savoury, and a round of drinks that turns brunch into something longer.

Brunch at Fortuna’s Row leans into the Latin pantry, where pastries are a little richer, a little more textured, and built to be shared across the table. It’s part of a broader approach to brunch here, where pastries and breads aren’t an afterthought, but a starting point.

Join us this weekend for brunch.

Bruja. In Veracruz, where ships once arrived heavy with cacao, sugar, and rum, there is a long tradition of remedies that blur the line between ritual and indulgence. Cortaespantos “spirit chasers” were prepared to steady the mind, soften the edges, restore a certain internal balance.

This drink follows that lineage, though with a lighter touch. Dark rum and coffee nod to the port; herbal amaro brings a quiet bitterness; banana and coconut dulce de leche lend warmth and a gentle sweetness that lingers just long enough. It leans toward dessert, but never fully settles there. Not quite a nightcap. Not quite a beginning. Something in between. Now pouring at Fortuna’s Row.

There comes a moment in every restaurant’s life when it must ask itself a difficult question: are we merely feeding people, or are we outfitting them? At Fortuna’s Row, we’ve decided — after considerable reflection and that the answer is both.

Introducing our first step into retail: the Churro Handbag. Handcrafted (and hand-fried) from delicately braided Mexican churros, each piece offers the rare union of form and function. Need a place for your essentials? It holds. Need a light snack between meetings? It obliges. Need to impress strangers with your commitment to cinnamon sugar as a lifestyle? It excels.

Engineered with a structural integrity that is, generously speaking, optimistic, the bag features a supple braided handle, a crisp golden exterior, and a finish that glistens ever so slightly under candlelight. Over time, it develops character gradually firming into what we can only describe as a more rigid silhouette.

We encourage guests to taste the churros beforehand, should they wish to understand the craftsmanship before wearing it. Handbags are, naturally, in limited supply. And yes, they may harden over time. Available today only. Or until someone eats the inventory.

At Fortuna’s Row, the seasons tend to blur a little. Inside, it’s always warm, somewhere between coastal breeze and late-night glow. A room shaped by Latin influence, where citrus, spice, and smoke carry through the menu, and the pace of dinner feels just a touch removed from whatever the weather is doing outside.

Join us for dinner this week, or stop by for our final YYC Food & Drink Experience brunch this weekend, it’s one last excuse to linger a little longer.

Muchame. Here for tonight only. Swordfish and Tuna sliced thinly, and served with a sesame tostada. A study in restraint and tradition, it’s Peru’s answer to charcuterie, shaped by Italian hands along the coast of Callao. Cured simply with salt, oil, and time, it’s a technique that lets the fish speak in quiet, precise notes.

Limited quantities, stop in for your this evening.

Xocoatl. Mezcal and sugarcane aguardiente at the base, layered with mole-infused vermouth, a touch of Campari, and lifted with coffee and a flicker of chile. Dark, bitter, and built slow, the kind of cocktail that lingers a little.

Named for the original cacao elixir, “bitter water,” it draws from Oaxaca’s depth and ritual. Spirit-forward, a little smoky, a little spiced, and not in any rush to be forgotten. Available now on the new cocktail menu.

YYC Food & Drink Experience .exp returns to Fortuna’s Row March 13th to 29th, and we’re marking the occasion with a three-course brunch menu that leans comfortably into the late-morning ritual.

It begins sensibly enough with a breakfast taco or granola bowl before moving on to heartier plates like mushroom frittata with entomatada, a torta ahogada layered with chicken tinga and fried egg, or Peruvian tacu tacu with chorizo ragu. A pastry from the kitchen follows, because brunch without something sweet would feel like an administrative oversight. Reservations are recommended, particularly for those who take their brunching seriously. This limited course menu is available Saturdays and Sundays for the next three weekends!
