The history behind donkatsu dates back to when the term was originally 'katsuretsu' in Japan, and at the time was commonly made using beef.

Eventually katsuretsu, which means cutlet, became known as katsu. Katsu is considered a type of yōshoku, which is a term that refers to Japanese food that has been influenced by European styles and cuisines. The term tonkatsu for pork cutlets came into common use during the 1930s, and then was adopted by Korea who named it 'donkatsu'.

Since opening one of our first locations in 2013, we've carefully built more stores, more brands, and found more dedicated hearts to bring Canadians the best of what Korea has to offer. You might know , , and , but there are an endless number of Korean goods that we want to share with you.

is our newest venture in bringing Canadians high quality, top of the line and modern Korean goods at affordable rates.

As part of the WOW Korea initiative, we will identify products that are top of the class in modern Korean culture, test products and gather feedback with the community, then retail them at extremely affordable pricing like how they are in Korea instead of markup retailers we see here.

The WOW Royal Oak store will be our starting destination for purchasing and picking up WOW Korea products in person or with this website.

Our Don Katsu is best enjoyed covered in our sweet and sticky sauce. The sauce is made from fruit, giving it a sweet flavour with some sour notes as well as vinegar as well and a blend of spices.
