Reconciliation does not happen if it doesn't happen together. Regardless of your political stripes, this week we can all be grateful for the overdue, permanent changes that are happening, and the positive direction we can set our eyes to.

This week Wab Kinew and our Provincial Government announced that the Province officially took custody of the land at Turtle Crossing (formerly Curran Park) where the burial of residential school students were located.

This grave site will now have a lasting presence, with respect paid to those who were lost. For too long, folks in our community and at SVDN have been trying to make this happen, and it's finally come to fruition.

This is important work.

As we prepare to head up for the walk to the residential school, we are thankful for those who continue to work on healing, and we acknowledge that reconciliation is more than a word, a day, or a week of activities.

But starting it CAN be as simple as a walk. Sharing a conversation. Learning about our history. And stepping in to help when asked.

We are open today, and once again honored to be serving the sacred fire keepers and those volunteering and participating in Truth and Reconciliation Week. 🧡 It is amazing to see all the local organizations, companies and volunteers come together to make this week of healing, knowledge and experience happen. We invite you to participate in the activities at the Riverbank Discovery Centre, to head up there from 9am-7pm, with the commencement of the Orange Shirt Day Walk at 11am (7km and 1km routes available). Hours today here at the shop are 8a-4pm. We hope to see you soon! 🧡
