KK’s Sunshine Diner Update ☀️

The diner is currently emptied out and cleaned up.
At this point, that’s where things stand. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much movement or action over the last couple of weeks, and right now it’s simply an empty space waiting for the next chapter.

We truly appreciate all of our customers who continue to wait patiently for us. Your support, messages, and encouragement mean more than you know, and we are excited for the day we can welcome you all back again.

At this time, we do not have an expected reopening date, but we promise to keep everyone updated as things change.

We also understand that a few people have not appreciated the AI-generated graphics we’ve been using. We respect everyone’s opinions, but right now paying for professional graphic design simply is not financially possible. We’re doing the best we can with the tools available while trying to keep the spirit of KK’s Sunshine alive during a difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, believe in us, and stand beside us through all the ups and downs.

Before the fire at KK’s Sunshine Diner, we bought a prep station that the seller claimed worked perfectly.
It didn’t.
We turned it on… and it was hotter than room temperature — completely unusable.
We reached out to the seller… no response.
So we called Howard Petgrave for advice.
Not only did he respond —
he showed up that same evening after finishing his own clients.
Within no time, he had it up and running.
No waiting days.
No runaround.
Just honest, skilled work when we needed it most.

We want to show you the truth…
Not just what happened — but what’s happening now.
This is what KK’s Sunshine Diner looks like behind the scenes.
The damage was real. Heavy. Overwhelming.
But here’s what matters most…
We didn’t stop.
Every single day, there are workers in here pushing forward.
Cleaning. Hauling. Repairing. Figuring it out one step at a time.
It’s not pretty.
It’s not easy.
But it’s progress.🔨 Where we’re at right now:
Cleanup is well underway
Damaged equipment is being removed
Repairs and prep work have started📋 Next big step:
We are applying for our building permit and hoping — truly hoping — for a smooth and fast approval this time
☀️ Our goal:
Reopen BEFORE JUNE
Not “someday.”
Not “eventually.”
We’re pushing for it.
Because this diner isn’t just a business…

We’re beyond excited to be heading in today to work out some details—and if all goes well, we may even have an announcement coming later this week!

This is a huge step for us, and we truly can’t wait to share this next chapter of our journey with you all.

If everything falls into place, the plan is to continue with this location even after we’re back home—bringing you the true KK’s Sunshine Diner classics you love, alongside something a little new and fun: a more trendy café-style experience with lots of fresh baked goods at a Mini KK’s Sunshine Venue downtown. No commercial kitchen but way more seating.
